I don't think this brakes the rules as I'm not connected to this product or store in any way shape or form :D

Dont get me wrong Data, i'd jump on them in a second at a lower price.

Its not the quality, I bet they're amazing.

But even if they gave me an orgasm via my ears I'd still hesitate spending a weeks pay on a pair of speakers.

Id much preffer to find a nice THX certified pair of something more common (logi's or Altec) and live in bliss for like 200 or 300 for surround.

I love my quality, its just so much money to spend on one thing.

Also, that review makes it sound like drugs :P and the same reason i dont try them: I dont want a new high everything else has to try to match up to.

MS, I see where you are coming from, good audio can easily become addictive, though as long as the sound card (or DAC if done that way) is decent enough, that is all that's needed.

I get the feeling you prefer the surround experience anyway ;) you like your movies and games :)

Sites still down...bummer.

actually (and oddly enough) i like my surround stereo music.

the dream (which i was allowed to sit down and set up at a harvey norman lol)

is logitech Z4 fronts and X140's rear. oh my god they both sounded so amazing.... and thats only about $120.

Id love to hear those speakers in question one day, but as i said, a weeks pay?

i could build a whole new computer for that money.

Im thinking about buying a pair of Audioengine 5.

Does anyone here own a pair of these speakers.

I plan on using these with my computer in a 4m x 5m room. Would these speakers be overkill for a room this size.

I've been looking at getting a pair of the A2's but at this price I might have to go for the 5's.

Anyone know how expensive the postage would be to get them sent to northern NSW or Brisbane

Edit: so zebs, how are they?

Until you've heard propper bookshelf monitors (be it AV or Studio), you really can't say much man.

And there is a world of difference between your bog standard pissy little Logitech 'multimedia' 'surround' setups and a good quality pair of bookshelf/monitor speakers.

I'm saving for a little pair of passiveBookshelf Stand mount speakers that are $2400 a pair, and excellently priced for what they are ;)

Edit:Mind you I was the same when I had my logitech's, I even remember raving on to a friend about how good they sound, and he just happens to be a designer of high end speakers :P

He was gracious enough to say little about my Logitech ravings :)

Bad luck man, but it does indicate the demand for these, let us know how you like them when you get yours ;)

I'm quite happy with my Alesis studio monitors. Got them cheap :)

Next up will probably be a pair of KRK VXT6s or 8s. I wouldn't mind a pair of Mackie HR824MK2s though... but well out of my price range.

EDIT: on topic question, are they shielded? If i ever do see some on clearance etc (i live near a wholesaler who sells to public OCCASIONALLY) it'l need to be near my CRT monitors. </edit>

as i said.

I dont for a single second doubt active speakers are incredible.

and i have heard these now, only in store, and they were nice.

Active clearly has a huge new level of quality above passive.

However I strongly believe that passive speakers reach a 'sensible' level at Logitech.

If i buy a $200 set of THX certified logi speakers, and then compare it to a set of $500 *insert brand here* of 'passive audio bliss', i bet it IS better. However, 2.5X better? I doubt it.

Active, i agree is a whole NEW battle. one im yet to properly explore.

However when it comes to passive, my logitech 'combo' is amazing to me.

If anyone owns set of Z4's, spend the $20-30 on a set of X140's and put them with each other.

anywho, back on topic. Still cant spend the money.
Maybe when i come more blind and my ears become more important....
