Creative: going after those that help their community/hardware

I haven't purchased a creative sound card since purchasing a soundblaster Live platinum and honestly its been a thorn in my side the moment I updated to Windows XP many eons ago.
The drivers were never up to scratch on XP for me and getting it to work was a tiresome affair to say the least, I decided from that point on that creative were not to be trusted and my money would be best invested elsewhere.

Its good to see though that other companies have stepped into the sound card market and are taking great leaps to secure their place in the sound card market.

I don't care what Creative has to offer in the way of future cards (X-Fi 2) as they have now proven they cannot be trusted as a company. I'm glad I have avoided them for many years and convinced all my clients to stay away as I have clearly saved them the aggravation, time and money.

The future looks good for next generation sound cards now that we've lost the fat man (creative), and running lean.

That's just dumb...

All they have to do is distance themselves from his drivers.. and they're not liable or responsible..

but to try to stop them is just plain ludacris of just dirty marketing tactics..

UPDATE

Creative have finally conceded their mistake, and have agreed to refund those who paid for AlChemy on an Audigy soundcard.

http://www.hexus.net/content/item.php?item=13205

You have till the 30th of June to get the refund.

They'll also be releasing a free version of the software shortly.

Small bump here, does anyone have the 64 bit version of these for Vista?

That page has download links for a Vista driver, which says it supports x86 and x64. But it is quite old, so may not have everything in it, I think the one I gave you was .0005, whereas this is .0003.

Should still work, the first mirror did start for me.

There's a major conspiracy theory behind all this intention to sue from creative at the indie developer of their sound card driver. ... Sale of their next gen. card with "functioning driver" for vista ...

I high doubt that they couldn't re-write the driver for their current ranges of cards. Given they have all the possible resource to do so , hardware design/working XP driver and so on

Rewriting the drivers for all(or even just some) of the cards for Vista will cost them considerably some resource of the already tightening revenue (imagine on board HD audio cutting their cake). And ultimately the new driver that cost them resource to make will enable old sound card to continue working under Vista, hence hinder the potential profit of the next generation card in the making... Why would any one pay for another sound card when they still got one working fine for them?

Now now as a ruthless business owner...would you do something like that to protect the potential of the company? I guess most of you would probably pick the easy answer to protect your business.

I didn't spend money on a single creative sound card after my Live 5.1 value....n being a tight ar_se as I am I probably won't spend a single cent on Creative gear.

Well after installing the daniel_k drivers my sound actually works.

My next card is most definitely going to be non-Creative.
