Hey all,

I was reading an article on theregister.co.uk http://www.theregister.co.uk/2008/04/25/mass_web_attack_grows/

which some of you may or may not have read. It describes how there appears to be a new attack method for injecting malicious links into supposedly trusted sites.

performing the google search described in the article, modified for .AU shows that we only have a few gov sites affected and 3 pages worth of .com sites.

What are people's thoughts on best method to inform the affected parties? Should you inform them at all? would they turn on you?

It would be great to see atomic bring light to these type of SQL injection attacks (and others) for up coming developers / hobbyist programmers to think about or atleast as a warning to be mindful on what you click on.

Thoughts?

Oh the irony of a new user talking about web attacks through malicious links and then provides a link him/herself!

It's not even SQL ibnjection, really. It is just the result of old/bad code that doesn't sanitise inputs properly. And as usual, The Register put enough half-truths in there to make it seem like a bigger deal than it is.

Also, yes I had to laugh at that too aliali :P

I did a google search for them, then visited them and viewed the source - seems all been fixed for .gov at least.
