been setting up my eeepc after a reformat don't think the the eeepc 701 would be the problem just mentioning it so people know the specs of my comptuer. (nlited version of xp pro)

Firstly i have to say windows live as its not called is the most painfull thing to install anyway.

I install the WLinstaller, select windows live and the sign in assistant because everythign else is bloatware.

Finnaly once its installed i'm greeted with http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c131/dirkjently/badmsn.jpg
no remember me
no remember my password
and no sign me in automattically

how do i fix this?

things i've tried in the past
uninstall reinstall messenger
uninstall reinstall messenger and signin assistant
uninstall reinstall signin assistant
repeat above after a reformat.

yell and scream because to reinstall anything you have to uninstall and reinstall WLinstaller

please help me befor windows live isn't the only thing to loose its mind.

Wierd?

It looks as if it would if you were running MSN Messenger on windows 9x/2000

What version of windows are you using, and have you set it up to run as if it was running on a shared computer?

Go to tools, options, security and make sure this is a shared computer isn't ticked.

EDIT: you haven't run anything like A-Patch?

To avoid all this aggravation just install amsn it is an msn clone without all the bugs and it will use your current msn user name and ID.

Does not work the same how ?

aMSN is a free open source MSN Messenger clone, with features such as:

* Offline Messaging
* Voice Clips
* Display pictures
* Custom emoticons
* Multi-language support (around 40 languages currently supported)
* Webcam support
* Sign in to more than one account at once
* Full-speed File transfers
* Group support
* Normal, and animated emoticons with sounds
* Chat logs
* Timestamping
* Event alarms
* Conferencing support
* Tabbed chat windows

By the way it is also skinable so if you find the default skin boring you can change it.

Meh... I used to use it on Linux before i used GAIM and later Pidegeon, I haven't used it in quite a while. Skins never really seemed to work properly back then maybe things have changed

i used amsn untill my friend logged into my main computer and suddenly all my contacts were added to his and all his were added to mine, incidently it saved his password in an easily unencryptable format so i could get into his account and delete my contacts out of his account but that sort of thing doesn't give me much trust in the program (this was a while ago so those problems may not exist anymore but i still dont' hold much faith in the program.)

I'm using an nlited version of xp pro (is it possible that the nliting has made live think i'm running 9x/2000?)

just checked the options and the sharing is definatly not ticked.

i ran mess patch the first time and i initially thought it was that but i have since reformatted my computer and there has been no change.
on this computer i have never had the remember me box showing.

Sorry but a Tcl/Tk app will always look like a Tcl/Tk app, no matter what you do to skin it.

I liked AMSN as a replacement until recent versions where it looks like the UI devs have just vomited at a screen and released it.

I believe Pidegeon has a Windows port. I wish they'd port Adium to Windows, that's such a sweet client...

It's a messaging client, what do want from it? I use aMSN in both Linux and Windows (whenever I rarely use windows that is), and it works fine, never had a problem. Heap of plugins and skins, and even on times there have been issues with the official MSN network/client, it's still connected and worked fine. It's far from perfect, but like I said, it's a messaging client, it's there to do a job.

a messaging client that i don't trust due to security holes I have mentioned previously.

If it was just messaging i wanted then i can use windows live, it still works i just have to keep typing in my email and password every time.

Those options disappear for me if the window is shorter than a certain height.

Try making the window taller.

The sign in assistant isn't what you think it is - it's actually bloatware too.
