He probably wasted >$200 in his time trying to get that $200.,..

But it's a very valuable precedence for other people to follow if they want HP to give their money back, eh?

The guy sounds like a tool if you ask me.....

The fact he's documented every aspect of the call makes me think he had this planned from the start....

A tool? He simply claimed his right to a refund, and since they were determined to make him jump thru hoops to get it, he had to play their game. Don't be such a condescending MS-fanboy.

Don't fuck around. You only get one chance. Take it, or forever wonder "what if?"

Actually he's entitled to ask for a refund, he doesn't have a right to one.

I don't understand why he bought a HP with Vista when he could have just bought a Dell with pre-installed Ubuntu.

Because he wanted the HP hardware.

Why should he be limited on what hardware he buys based on what OS will run, if the OS he wants to run will run well enough on both?

I've got HP PCs and workstations at work here (lots of them), they are nothing special anyway at all.

At what point did I state that I support HP's/MS's view on this...

I merly stated that the kind of people who go out of their way to firstly ask for a refund knowing what the product comes with, and then going out of their way to make a huge blog about it are generally....tools....

Yeah exactly. He only did this to make a point. When you buy a PC from an OEM, it comes with Windows. If you don't want that, either buy a PC with Linux, or buy a whitebox.

Fair few people did that with Dell. They didn't want Vista, they applied for and received a refund.

That's the bit that annoyed me, her own name was blurred... happy to give out everyone else's contact numbers and names.

I just read this again, I still think the guys a complete idoit. It was his fault for purchasing it to begin with, he was not entitled to a refund in my personal opinion but oh well... $110 wont break them.

It's some hippie do goodder woman living in hawaii. She obviously has enough smarts to know she could have bought a laptop without this, but went through the time and effort because it was cheaper to get it with windows then without. It shows how much her time is worth, and you have to wonder what the reason behind that is.
