I've been using vista 64 for the last 2 months or so and couldn't be happier. Mind you my hardware is pretty up to date as well.

+1

Been running it for just over a month and its going fine.

Thanks to vista I'm now an Ubuntu user, so its not all bad. :)

I actually thought they would have it as a slightly higher priority for a 2009 release, since vista is doing poorly, And I think that a lot of users who are still using XP have decided to stay on XP for the long haul. Hence no dollars from them for a vista upgrade.

Maybe they should focus on making Vista work instead of making a new version? Or is that to hard for Micro$oft?

Not that I use windows, but I really hope they can make a good operating system this time, even if they do steal the looks/features/whatever from other operating systems. Look at OSX, about 90% of it is from opensource projects and the rest is a face lift. Not that its a bad face lift, OSX is certainly better in terms of user friendliness compared to slackware or something.

Weslem27 laughs at his use of the incorrect slash.

Why can't we edit these comments?

Not really, but okay.

I'd like it if MS actually hardened the fuck up and did something new. I can make my vista look pretty much however the fuck I want it to look at the moment, so the GUI isn't an issue. What is an issue is the fact they seem to be releasing new OS's because they can. Yes, there's a kernal change between XP and Vista, but noone's mentioned what's going to happen with this new OS. DX 11 perhaps? I just hope they actually make it different (and perhaps perform better rather than being the piece of crap it's been for a while).

If it does end up looking like that, it's pretty sad - that a major company like Microsoft has basically surrendered to Apple, letting everyone know they (Apple) are the benchmark when it comes to designing operating systems as well as giving up on any creativeness themselves.

They never really were very creative, most of their best stuff they bought or stole from others.

What do you think?

I think inquirer articles posing as atomic articles are annoying.

I think lots of people commenting without much of a clue is also annoying.

But it's Windows, so I guess it's ok.

What?
Vista came out at the end of 2006. That's three years at least between vista and 7. And your copy of vista isn't going to suddenly stop working when 7 comes out.

New versions of stuff comes out. Get used to it.

And I thought that Vista was the last Microsoft OS to be 32-bit. Someone has been telling barney's again...

+1 they have been lying again.

Lets hope its a little more polished than Vista when released.

A LITTLE more polished?

The Vista GUI should not have even passed the fucking design stage.

I don't understand how Microsoft, one of the wealthiest and most powerful company's in the world, can fuck up, so, so, badly, so consistently, and continuously.

I mean what the fuck is so hard about spending some of all that money they have on people who know what the fuck they are doing? Jesus, at least spend it on fucking brain surgery or something.

In fact, I think their biggest problem is that they're just, well, simply classic fucking Yank.

They should employ some fucking Swedes or something, FUCK.

This was a good idea.

This was definitely a good idea.

There is no chance that this was not a good idea.

no new kernel for Windows7, itll be using the Vista kernel. Ref:www.osnews.com

but like SFD said, you can make the windows GUI pretty much like anything you like these days, so yep, the gui anit the problem. What is a huge problem with M$ is the need for backward compatibility. Rumour has it that Windows7 will have Backward compatibility in the form of an installable Virtual machine (sounds logical too me), and hopefully this will enable em to clean up and optimize the OS.

Do i believe it? dunno, its early, only time will tell.
