TheFrunj thinks:

Well I knew it was coming, but not that it would be a copy of OSX.

Also, where is the link to the screenshots?

About the Atomic article Windows 7 confirmed for 2010

http://www.atomicmpc.com.au/article.asp?CIID=112283

Microsoft has confirmed that Windows 7 will be with us "sometime in 2010" and appears to have released screenshots into the blogsphere.

What do you think?

And I thought that Vista was the last Microsoft OS to be 32-bit. Someone has been telling barney's again...

GUI is the last thing to get locked down, I would take any early screen shots with a pretty large pile of salt

Looks like vista with oversized icons for the clinically retarded.

Well, looks like a promising ball of shit is on the horizon.

I've been using vista 64 for the last 2 months or so and couldn't be happier. Mind you my hardware is pretty up to date as well.

If it does end up looking like that, it's pretty sad - that a major company like Microsoft has basically surrendered to Apple, letting everyone know they (Apple) are the benchmark when it comes to designing operating systems as well as giving up on any creativeness themselves.

Well, come 2015, I expect they'll have just released the beta, at which point I'll have a look.

Finally, we'll have an OS that'll justify the Cray we've had kicking around our garage all these years.

To those commenting on the design... which screenshots are you looking at?

As far as I can tell, the ones shown here http://dotnetwizard.net/?p=981 were concepts produced by a designer not even employed by Microsoft?

OMFG! 32bit! ffs!!!

When are we gonna stop this dribble drab and force users onto the new technology so developers will start taking advantage of 64bit!!

I rekon make windows 7 with no backwards compatibility but enable an optionally installable windows xp virtual machine.

That way you could actually make windows seven extreamily secure and not worry abotu old bugs making it unstable, if you had an xp vm layer running in a sandbox users computers would be protected from all current viruses too.

rofl those concepts are so bad, i bet they are from one of those 10 year old windows enthusiast forums.

Tobleki: they would have developed the OS so that older viruses arnt able to get through anyway, much like Vista blocked a lot of XP viruses.

Why not just do what I did. Turned an old dual core Opteron system into an OSX86 machine. Works really well. I just went to OSX86.org and followed the Instructions. Awesome, I use it for Photo Editing Using Aperture/Lightroom, and movie making. Plus its rock solid. I initially had kernel panics with my network cobtroller, but its fixed now and runs awesomely.
