Are you differentiating between 32 and 64 bit versions? May be worthwhile...

Yeah, there is a separate list for 64 bit at the bottom. Where people have said 64 Bit I have listed them there.

Updated otherwise.

I have tested all below on 32-bit Vista:

My AVG works on Vista perfectly. It's version 7.5.432.

Spybot Search & Destroy 1.4 - works perfectly

Visual C++ Express Edition - works perfectly (SQL 2005 Server Express needs 'Visual C++ Express' SP1 to function correctly)

Quicktime 7.1.3 - works

Divx - works perfectly

Audacity 1.2.4 - works perfectly

Wordweb 4.5a (dictionary/thesaurus) - works perfectly

All above are FREEWARE (I love freeware) LOL.

A couple of updates:
Trend Micro will install with errors (relating to Messaging and Firewall components) when UAC is turned off. It will also not register with server component. ie. it won't show up as active in security dashboard

UltraVNC works partially, but you have to manually start the server. I've found the same with RealVNC.

DVDInfoPro bug has been reported, and I have found a workaround to allow install without asking for a serial (which has also been reported to be fixed, and don't ask how to do it). Once installed, it seems to work fine

Could someone test Media player classic as well as Real Alternative, and Quicktime alternative plugins. My main PC has Vista installed but I cannot test these as my Sound Card isn't compatable (Gametheatre XP).

I have heard that no apple PC software is compatable with Vista. They are working on iTunes compatability but I have heard nothing about a Vista compatable version of Quicktime.

Nero 7 Express OEM does not work.

Seems at the moment only nero 7 reloaded has updates available for it for Vista compatibility.

With nero 7.7.5.1 installed windows dvd maker closes down giving the following DEP error;

Data Execution Prevention (DEP) is a security feature that can help prevent damage to your computer from viruses and other security threats. Harmful programs can try to attack Windows by attempting to run (also known as execute) code from system memory locations reserved for Windows and other authorized programs. These types of attacks can harm your programs and files.

DEP can help protect your computer by monitoring your programs to make sure that they use system memory safely. If DEP notices a program on your computer using memory incorrectly, it closes the program and notifies you.

The removal of nero fixes this issue.

*Edit: Should state that these are working in 32bit Home Premium:

* Opera 9.10
* F.E.A.R Single Player (using 1.8 patch)
* F.E.A.R Multiplayer - Requires Admin mode if you plan to enable PunkBuster

For me it runs partially ok. Trying to remote control the Vista machine sometimes doesn't work. ie it shows the desktop but when you try to click on anything nothing happens. Reconnecting again usually solves it.

Java JRE 1.6.0 update: It seems that some issues relating to a missing DLL (MSVCR71.dll) have been traced back to Java JRE. This means that some applications that use this dll will not function (eg. Windows Live Messenger)

Edit: It appears some people have had success resolving this issue by searching for the dll and placing the most recent one in system32.

Edit 2: DVDInfoPro serial problem has been resolved, a new build of 4.8.2.8 has been released which fixes it.
