Ipod Classic volume problem?

I think the last firmware update via itunes fiddled with the volume settings on my 80Gb Classic. Now the bottom 1/6 of the volume range seems to be the same level instead of fading out.

I noticed this when lying down listening to quiet music, realising it was a bit loud but that the volume would not go any lower even though the volume slider on the display was changing.

I haven't synced for a while so there are no changes to the music. I'm sure that level normalisation is off. And have not fiddled with the volume limiter.

I'm investigating this to see what's up or whether my hearing has suddenly gone funny.

Any similar experiences or suggestions?

Perhaps the update has reset your preferred max volume setting.

Go to:

Root menu --> Settings --> Volume Limit.

Dial up or down the limit to the volume you want then press the play button to lock it.

Weird. Try the five R's off the apple ipod support page, and let us know.
