The eternal struggle - space vs style - recommend me an iPod

OK, I REALLY want an iTouch. But at max 32Gb, I would only just fit my audio collection, and have no room left for video or apps / mail, etc.

So that leaves me with the classic as the next option. Nice in its own right, and 160Gb will be plenty, but it ain't an iTouch. And I dont get the extra toys.

What would you do? What have you bought? Help me Obi Wans...

I had the same debate last week.
I ended up getting an 8Gb touch - Here's why:

-Whilst I wanted a player with a big drive to fit ALL my music the 160Gb is still a little too small and I do not expect a 500Gb+ iPod any time soon!

-As I travel a lot with work the wifi saves me taking my MBP every trip by syncing to it via vpn.

-8Gb of music seems to be enough for 3 or 4 days before I'm ready for a change.

-Youtube is very welcome when you need a break from the music.

-at $390 I feel it is pretty good value. Though in my opinion the jump in price from 8Gb to 32Gb is unreasonable.

In short;
I am very happy with the purchase even though the space is low and highly recommend the Touch.

I had the same thoughts about 3 months ago.
I went the Ipod Classic 160Gb. I chose this after much deliberation because;

1) I wanted a music player, not an entertainment device (I have a PSP for that.)

2) Wi-Fi hotspot - most are pay, so I'd only really be able to use this feature at home.

3) Not enough storage space.

I bought the 160Gb classic. Great machine. I've got 4500 songs, two seasons of a comedy TV series, 100+ Music videos, 100+ podcasts... and it's still not even 1/4 full. I know I can tell iTunes to make some spare space avail as a pseudo thumbdrive but I think there's that chance of getting a corrupt HD at some stage.

If I did it again, I'd still buy the 160Gb and try harder to fill it with movies.

Video on the tiny screen sux. I watched video on the ipod exactly once and I'm thinking exactly 97.6% of people are in the same boat. Same goes for the PSP. It may be cool, but holdint the thing in a position to see the screen properly for a hour is retarded.

The iPod touch is more of a gadget, if your into music that much get a larger iPod. I got the touch when it was released because it has some awesome features and I dont listen to more then 8gb of music

Hey hey hey. Video on the 2.8" TyTN 2 screen is awesome: You set it down, and tilt the screen. It's wicked.

Yeah but my iPhone can do that too :P

What he's talking about is when you're sitting on the train for an hour and a half on your way to work trying to watch something and your arm gets tired from holding it, or your neck gets buggered from constantly looking down at it on your lap.

I just started taking my laptop with me again :P

I'm thinking about getting a 32Gb iTouch, I'd rather a bigger one but who knows when that will happen.....
