I'm on my PDA at the moment and I found this website: http://www.downloadjunction.com/company/store/6903/index.html
It apparently does voice recognition for multiple languages, but I don't know about translation. I'll have a better look when I can.

Is there anything in portugese, italian, french and spanish that has voice recognition that does these languages english to etc?

I'll be going overseas in 6 weeks which means i don't have enough time to learn languages.

P.S. I just installed google maps and my palm just froze :S :P It may be because my palm doesn't have internet explorer. Anyway, it has an old OS based most probbably on windows 95 but for some strange reason has no web browser, (hmmm :S). I can't find where to take the battery out to reset it, so it's pretty much frozen till the battery runs out.
UPDATE!!! I just found the reset button. (if i dragged this post on any longer it would have turned out to be a mini serial :D .

Update: I think that research labs link is an old one because all the links are broken.

I can't find any software that caters for your needs, sorry.

Maybe you should look for a text based translator.

Here is a TTS program: http://www.freewarepalm.com/utilities/moose.shtml
But it isn't a translator.

Text-to-Text translation: http://www.freewarepalm.com/educational/jlearnitpda.shtml

I doubt there is a freeware TTS or STS translator. Sorry mate.
