Getting a new mouse, suggestions?

Hey guys. The time has come to replace my Logitech MX 518 Mouse, and I have found too mouses that really interest me, one being the Logitech G5 mouse and one being the Logitech G9 mouse.

The G5 really interests me becasue of the high DPI sensitivity, weights at the bottom, sexy look and seems to resemble the MX 518 so it may feel similair in my hand.

The G9 on the other hand looks VERY interesting and VERY sexy. I've noticed that the G9 has had nothing but good reviews and is recommended by many places including this forum.

So, i'm curious, which do you think is the better out of the two? if anyone owns, please describe and satisfy my lust. LOL...

Cheers.

How do you use the mouse?
How does your hand typicly sit on the mouse?
What DPI do you currently run your MX518 on?
What is the mouse going to be used for?
What surface is it going to be used on?

I moved from the MX518 to the G5 (2007 edition) and if you really like the MX518 then the G5 will not disappoint you as, it’s really just an updated MX518 with weights.

the cool thing about the g9 is the free wheeling scroll you can just scoll it once and it keeps scrolling ( physicaly) it takes some getting used to but it feels so wrong when you go back to the click resistance one.

I like my Lachesis however I loved my G7 for it's ergonomics. The G9 to me a little small but I think it's an awesome mouse nonetheless.

I've been using the Razer range of mice for a few years and am very happy with them.

If possible, use the mouse you intend to buy before buying it so you can make sure you are comfortable with it.

What's wrong with the 518? I have one, it's great.

Nothing is wrong with the 518's, infact I think they are better tech than the G5/3's

Well the thing that annoys me about the G5/7/etc is they don't have the up/down scroll buttons which I use a lot, and I think they only have one side button, instead of back/forward which I also use a lot.

I'd just buy another 518 if they still make them.

I have a MX518, great mouse ... apart from the stupid feet that fall off.

I use an MX revolution at hom and a VX revolution at work.

I prefer the MX rev as it has the side scroll wheel and just feels nicer.

I used to love my mx510. Then I got a Copperhead which I never really got used to. Finally I found a Lachesis locally, and it was different enough for me to love it now.

The only reason why I didn't get the G5 when it first came out is because it only had one side button. The 2007 edition of the G5 has two side buttons so I was happy again.

There you go if you want to stick with the 518. I went from a 518 also to a G5 2007 edition. It has the same feel as the 518 however the grainy texture on the G5 took a bit to get used too after the smoothness of the 518. It felt like grit under my hand at first, But am used to it now and i like it.
