Hey can you check out some Zalman PSU's, after all the 850W passed big willies test! And the one I have is really good.

EDIT: this one is cheap and really decent

I question the relevance of the Seasonic 300 and the Odin GT 550W due to their lack of availability in Australia.

tantryl, even though the Odin GT 550W is not widely available in OZ, you can still get your hands on it so that's why it was added.

Also after some thought, I have decided to drop the SFF list as PSU's for SFF just don't seem to be readily available here in OZ and I just don't see the SFF list growing at any rate that will be of any use to anyone.

To the opening post the following line.

“Only PSU’s available in Australia will make the list.”

I've had a great run with SuperFlower PSU's - rumour has it that they're rebadged Enermax's (according to Dan's Data)
whatever the case, they make great PSU's, and are very reasonably priced.

How would the silvestone ST50F go with 8800GTS 512mb in sli, q6600 and 4gb memory with assorted fans and a couple hard drives?

For Everyone:

See http://www.atomicmpc.com.au/forums.asp?s=2&c=7&t=9354 for a referenced listing of actual tested power consumption of graphics cards.

CPUs are a little more tricky, you've got to search around for specific CPU power consumption articles and the majority only test the entire system's AC power draw instead of the specific CPUs DC power draw. So you have to look around to find it. http://www.behardware.com is decent for this.

The rest of the system is usually around 20-30W on the +12V rails. Use 30W as the safe figure. If you've got 10 HDDs this number obviously changes but it's a good round figure.

For reb_dark:

2x8800GTS 512MB SLI = 217W DC draw on the +12V rails
Q6600 @ 2.4GHz = 102W DC draw on the +12V rails
Q6600 @ 3.6GHz = Up to 170W (based on differences in mentioned AC graphs)
Rest of the system = ~30W DC draw on the +12V rails

Total draw on the +12V rails @ stock ~ 350W (or about 29A)
Total draw on the +12V rails @ 3.6GHz ~ 420W (or about 35A)

So yes, the Silverstone ST50F with it's 36A on the +12V rails should run that setup, if only just when overclocked.

Would it be advisable? Not really. Something like the Corsair TX750W would be more appropriate with it's 60A on the +12V rail or the Silverstone Olympia OP650 with it's ~54A would be best, loading the PSU to around the 50% mark.

what's the main pro's/ cons of getting one 12v rail with high rated amps (ie. 60A) compared to three or four 12V rails with less rated amps (ie. 18A). which would you use for say a sli/ CF setup?

edit: thanks for the advice above tantryl
