What paint to use on drive faceplates?

I'm looking into painting the front of a floppy drive. What's the best sort of paint to use? I've already got a tin of el-cheapo black spraypaint but I don't know if it's any good for this. Do I need to use a special sort for it to stick properly to the plastic of the faceplate?

If you're pedantic about quality, grab some sandpaper and sand it lightly to make a flat even surface, then paint it with that el-cheapo paint.

If not, then paint it with that el-cheapo paint.

You can take the faceplate off to paint it, or just stick masking tape over the bits that you don't want painted.

Yeah, I'll take it off first prior to painting. My main concern is using something that's not going to flake off the plastic the first time someone bumps it.

The other thought I had was to use some modelling paint. Since it's meant to be used on plastic parts anyway I figured it might stick better.

Cheep spraypaint will stick to plastic no problem. If the surface is realy glossy, maybe you might want to give it a wipe over with some acetone. Modeling spraypaint is just a good quality paint at a much too high price, but if you have some already, knock yourself out.
