Cutting metal quietly

Okay so I'm moving to a one bedroom apartment and would like to mod my original stacker for water cooling goodness.

So I need to cut some circles for fans and some straight lines aswell. How can I do this quietly.

Where did AMD's k9 processor go? ....... I suspect it may be in a dim sim shop somewhere.

Easiest way?

Take it to someone else's house and do it there, make all the noise you want.

Otherwise you'll have to use a hand-powered tool, like tin snips or a small saw, but those need a lot more effort, and are extremely hard to get them looking good when you're done with it.

Someone else will be in shortly to recommend a more realistic alternative though.

Depends entirely on what material you want to cut and what sort of hole you want to make. Really intricate cuts there is really only one alternative maybe two if you've got a fair bit of cash. Plasma cutter or laser.
If you just doing straight cuts through the body the good ol 100mm angle grinder with a thin cutting blade is pretty good.

Whoops you mean quietly! Only way to do this is with a laser which means you'd have to dismantle your entire case. LOL and The Frunj said realistic!

What he said

Only noisey bit would be using a drill to make a hole to fit the nibblers in

Do it during the day, there isn't much they can complain about unless it is overly excessive and constant noise.

Thanks guys. Lost my internet through a house move, Thats why I've been quiet in this thread.

Looks like the nibbler might me the one, since I don't seem to have a allergic reaction to kryptonite. :P

Nibblers aren't necessarily quiet.

Compared to other methods maybe, but they do make a reasonable POP when the little jaw bites through the sheet.

Obviously softer metals (like aluminium) will produce a quieter sound.
