New Case & New Idea's

Okay well I needed a case with more room then my prev Antec NSK4400 and had the opportunity to swap it with this one. I plan on doing a UV styled mod, with simple tasteful things such as fan grills cut out with rubber molding around the edge. Possible some UT grills to go over the top, I will also be getting a Unreal logo cut into the side panel to stick with the Unreal Tournament theme. Last but not least some UV reactive pant, cabling, plugs and fans.

How it stood at first, with the 7800GTX

My new ECS 9600GT with Accelero S2 Passive cooling (I couldnt keep it that way though so I slapped a fan ontop).

Some more sleeving added, white bandex.

How it sits for now until next weekend when Im not at work lol.

Please not also that where the fan grills have been cut out is now smoothed, but like I said rubber molding is going around the edge as well.

Looks pretty interesting, could be something special at the end of it.

Are you gonna cut out the rear fan? I did this on my P182, just put a wire grille over it. Airflow increased significantly, and noise went down :)

Yep I will be cutting out the rear fan grill as well.

Ill be putting a bit of money into this, dont plan on cutting corner especially with the wiring. We'll see how it goes when the Window is finished this weekend and all the UV goodies go in.

Ill keep ya's posted.

First - simple. Paint the case. Prep your paint surface, metho, etc. Give it a sand. Get like a semi-gloss engine enamel or something. I got my paintjob like factory finish.

Perspex side panels....... Well the list goes on for every.

Here is my case - still working on it.

Question: Whatcha want molding around the fan hole for? Decoration, or just to cover up the edge?

If its just to cover it up, I would recommend getting some insulated wire, and running a cut along the length of it, then remove the wire, and use the plastic sheath as your molding

Thin, cheap, looks tight too ;)

I created a new nic' and posted a thread with the progress of the case which was then locked simply because i used my new account... Nice.

Anyway here are the updates.

Here's some progress on my new case, feedback is most welcome!
The reason for the duct mod is with this case for some reason the front intake fan created a horrible vacuum noise. Putting the duct in with the fan at a distance still gives good airflow and has dropped the noise levels a lot.

Champ i don't know why you made a new account for, but if you want to change your name etc just pm a mod and ask them to change it for you. Keeping it to one account ensures the forum is kept neat and efficient.

Onto your mod, the side panel hasn't worked out to well, what were you using to cut it out? For side panels i find this technique works well, tape the entire panel with masking tape. Mark out your cut lines, clamp some timber/metal to the panel as a guide to keep your jigsaw steady while cutting. Clean up the cut with files and sanding, do this well and there in no need for rubber molding at all.

cheers

I like the look of rubber molding personally. I used a grinder lol it was all I had at my disposal... Where I went wrong was I thought the plexiglass wouldnt hold the rubber in place so I used a hot glue gun which got a bit messy. In future I now know that hot glue isnt needed, its been cleaned off now though.

Ill post the completed product at the end.

We cannot do that.
If perhaps it had been made a bit clearer in the other thread, it may not have been locked.
