I was looking at the Das Keyboard and found this site http://www.initek.net.au/projects/keyboard/index.html Using isopropyl alcohol, he removed all markings from each key. How long would that take and is there a better way (that's still cheap) to remove them? I like the look of a blank keyboard and I'm not paying $162 for one http://www.auspcmarket.com.au/index.php?redir= http://www.auspcmarket.com.au/show_product_info.php?input[product_code]=KE-DASKEYBOARD2&input ----- Knowledge is knowing that the tomato is a fruit. Sanding and painting would be the easiest I'd think. -----

I'd take all the keys off, sand blast em lightly, lay em out, spraypaint (put some tape across the bottom so they dont get paint in em and not 'move' properly then, whack em back in. grab a $10 KB form crazy's to try. black one :D ----- A64 3500+, ASUS A8N-SLI-Deluxe, Leadtek 6600GT, 1gb, 200GB WD SATA, 36GB SATA RAPTOR, 109 DVD, LG DVD-rom. Light sanding of each key using fine sandpaper or steel wool should do it in a reasonably short time. Using a suitable solvent (not sure if alcohol would be strong enough, acetone maybe?) it can't take too long, either. It wouldn't be like you need to soak it for days or something. But depending on the keyboard, something like isopropyl alcohol might not work at all. A mechanical abrasion is guaranteed to work. Cool. I've got a really old keyboard that no one is going to miss (although it has the nice clicky feel of switches underneath) If this works well, I'll be doing this to the keyboard I buy. EDIT: Took less than a minute with fine sandpaper to sand off the letter on one key. It's still nice and smooth under my fingertips too. Sandpaper FTW! I tryed this with and old KB too, but had trouble holding on to the key and sanding it as it was just too fidily so I ended up just painting over it in a cheap can of blue which I regret now. So how did you do it? ----- Stay In Drugs, Drink Ur School And Dont Do Milk!

So how did you do it? Rather than move the sandpaper over the key, I moved the key over the sandpaper. I had the sandpaper kind of wrapped over my thumb. Most keys aren't flat, so the curvature of the thumb helps make contact with as much of the surface as possible. Be careful using acetone (aka nail polish remover) as it will actually melt a lot of plastics used in pc manufacture (I learnt the hard way after step-daughter put remover on my scanner lid accidently) 600 grit wet and dry, using your thumb, as others have said works a treat. -----

Thanks karlm. I have the technique now, I just need the keyboard. I'd do it on this generic one that I'm using right now if the keys didn't keep sticking. :( Shift and Enter are the two culprites. ----- Knowledge is knowing that the tomato is a fruit.
