Looking for Broadband in Perth

Hi Guys

I'm about to move to Perth and was wondering if any of ya could point out a worthwhile ISP?

The house I'm moving to has a 12GB plan for $90 per month which I find fiendishly expensive. (I'm currently paying that much for 50GB)

Is this pricing typical for Perth??

No, that's Tel$tra's expensive BigPond Liberty 12GB at $89.95 at ADSL2/2+ speeds. You can do a lot better.

do they have exetel over there?
I'm paying $65 for ADSL2+ with 60G (12G peak/48G off-peak) downloads and a landline - I'm really happy with them.

It should be noted that WestNet were bought out by iiNet not too far back. I believe they're giving keeping both infrastructures intact and separate at the moment, but I have no idea if that'll last long.

You could also look at Amcom http://www.amcom.com.au

Just another one to look at, they are a local player in the market.

I'm with Amcom because of their waix quota. They've changed their plans to have peak/off peak usage now I think which sucks (I get to stay on my old plan though).

Westnet is still supposed to be good.

My clients have had HEAPS of problems with iinet lately, though usually it's involving moving their internet to a new premesis.

I have a friend who is on exetel and they have no complaints with their unlimited quota.

At work, we have a Westnet connection for general Internet (not ADSL 2/2+) due to the local exchange not supporting it unless you go with Tel$tra. We also have a Tel$tra business connection for our Terminal Server connections to stop Internet browsing intefering.

Guess which one falls over more often!

You make business infrastructure choices for the iiNet group?

No but I work for WN, and if you knew what it was like to work here, you'd know that they are very open with whats happening. But no, we are definitely still separate.

How many months beforehand did you know iiNet were buying you out?

Well, if you're happy to use VOIP, iiNet's Naked 5 is $90 (Inc VOIP) for 100GB (40GB onpeak 60GB off). I've been a happy iiNetter for the past three years, never had a problem that I can remember (Though I haven't tried the naked service, so I can't vouch for that)

If you haven't moved yet, you should have a play over at http://www.adsl2exchanges.com.au/ to see what sort of speeds you might be able to expect.

Internode FTW.

$50 = 10GB
$60 = 20GB
