internet fisking up

I booted up last night, and found my home page was failing to show up. We have a direct line connecting to a router which connects to 4 others systems around the house. After checking all the neccessary cables were plugged in correctly, I tried again and failed. Then I tried another cable, then a different socket further along the wall, one which I know was working with my laptop.

Still nothing... I checked the connections in Network places, and its apparent that the connection to the router is there, but the internet isnt (as in, 0 packets sent and received)

I'm not too savvy on networking, hell, I dont even know how to configure ports.
What annoys me most is the spontaneity of it. I shut it down as I normally would, then next boot, I get this. Argh!

Try this.

Also if you are using DHCP to acquire your IP address try renewing the lease.
