Dare I put ubuntu on my EEE in place of vista?

I think I may if I get bored enough.

That's alright, we don't expect much from your articles anyway, Good Job Dave!

And score for all those who love tiny lappers and linux, I expect to see more threads and how to tweak and install this.

There is also the custom BT3 distro which runs beautifully on the 701, the livecd on the memory card works basically as the full distro.

Well, Paragon Partition Manager fucked my HDD, so I am going to install Ubuntu and then maybe install Vista as a secondary.

And now I can't get the EEE online as the network drivers won't install.

Can anyone tell me an easy way to do this?

Bluetooth is working, but wireless and ethernet are borked.

Well, I tried his day one release, I am now downloading his day 2 release, if this doesn't have the network support, I am going to XP, Vista or *shudders* Xandros.

Little tip, if you throw /usr/ into a squashfs/aufs the distro becomes 1.2gb, perfect for my 2gb USB key. It runs fricking slow off of a USB key though, getting 1mbyte/second :S Must not be USB2 for some reason.

Also, for some frucked up reason madwifi refuses to install with a squashfs/aufs /usr. At least, that's what I assume it is, because it's the only modification I've made and madwifi is being a total and utter bitch.

Update: My ethernet woes were solved by using his latest RC, now only to find out how to get rid of this frigging annoying netbook remix theme/app.

Did you use Unetbootin? If so you did it correctly.

Boot up off the USB stick. Easiest way is to hit "ESC" during POST and a little menu comes up asking you to choose what device to boot off. Choose the USB stick :P

I have no idea, but that's the next step :P
