Ok,

How does everyone want the cd's sent?
Do you want them in a clear cd container and then put in a cd post it pack?

Please advise if there are any other methods that you wish to use!

caspar, you really arent helping at all. please if youhave nothing better to say just dont say anything please.

trev99, " in a clear cd container and then put in a cd post it pack" is fine me thinks. that will do.

by the way. if anyone is still interested in sending me copies of any nix releases i shall burn for people who dont have them for a small cost of cds and delivery charge.

Just a point, in all fairness, it is a great idea.

However, I do not mean to offend anyone, but I don't exactly trust australia post, or anyone else when it comes to buying stuff by mail, so if i may suggest that a bank account or some method of payment via bank account be set up for each state or so on, so that the people here are actually guarrenteed to get their money, and that the people are guarrenteed to get their software?

perhaps then, for all those able to distribute in brisbane should get together and distribute, and those in other states follow suit?

I think most people would trust each other, its on four dollars or so, and if someone does rip you off, just post here and no-one else will trade with them.

ne()phyte,

You make some good points!
But wouldn't there be additional cost's in setting up a bank account?

And even with the setting up of a bank account, you will still have to send the cd's via Australia post.

I have only really had one unpleasant experiance with aussie post, in which some posters were ment to be delivered, i though they were lost but they turned up eventually.

I think using Money orders is a good way to do it, and i have two on the way, and will send the cd's the minute i get the money orders. :)

Ok I would be interested in getting a copy of Linux/Mandrake ver8.2 or 9 cd 1 and cd 2.
If some one from Perth WA has them and is will to take 10mins out of there day to burn them for me please contact me (thefullmoonis@hotmail.com)

I can send you 2 CD-RW CDs and a stamped self addresed envelope. Simple cheep and effective.
Your cost, the power for your computer and maybe the fuel to the mail box.

Note:Thunder mentioned that you can send them in an evelope for current postage price which is 50cent now i think. Thank goodness for snail mail and the GPO. Is this true Thunder

there are no additional costs in setting up bank accounts, only the fee's associated with keeping the account active.

or maybe you could look into setting up an account with Australia Post for COD, and then send via registered post (that means they must go in person to pick up the items).

it may be a tad extremist, but if you are serious about getting it going, then it would be a very wise idea.

btw, if you do think its a good idea (to set up a joint account or COD account), then could the brisbane based people possibly contact me via IRC (i'm neophyte) or msn/trillian at roketer@hotmail.com as i can pretty much get redhat, mandrake, openbsd, freebsd, netbsd, e-smith, enguarde, smoothwall for no cost whatsoever.

maby we can have a routing point, so one person in each city has a copy and then burns them to keep mail costs low

ok... i have the three MANDRAKE (linux) 8.2 cds that i burned from iso's that took about 1 week to suck down on my 56k dialup!

1bolHungLo: i'm not sure i understand your request - did you mean you're asking people to send any to you so you can distribute them? or do you need them for yourself?

anyway... anyone who wants this distro can either: post me three blanks and a couple of stamps and i'll burn em up and return 'em to you

or: if you live in perth we can arrange something or other

or: if anyone wants to post a money order for say $10 for the three and postage (i personally think $4 a disk is a little high) to me i'll gladly burn and post them for you.

whatever - get in touch with me via newmz@bigfoot.com and we can talk spreading the good linux news around!

this was a good idea btw!

newmz,

It's $4 for the first disc, which will cover postage and the cd.

Any cd after that, is an additional $1, so if someone wanted the 3cd Mandrake set it would cost them $6.

$4 for first cd.
$1 for second.
$1 for Third.

Total:
$6

i may be the brother of cordo 2, but that doesn't mean i'm like him. But now he has been banned (six times) so we can all browse the forums in peace. you may also know cordo 2 as kkkkkk or some other variant of this.

cordo,

Sorry for the delay mate, but i have assignments falling out of my ears at the moment, and haven't had the chance to get to the post office today. The cd's have been burnt, and will be sent first thing tomorrow morning.

Once again i apologise for the delay, and i hope you understand.

"ok... i have the three MANDRAKE (linux) 8.2 cds that i burned from iso's that took about 1 week to suck down on my 56k dialup! "

what patience you have? you deserve a medal for that.

"1bolHungLo: i'm not sure i understand your request - did you mean you're asking people to send any to you so you can distribute them? or do you need them for yourself? "

yes, i want people to send to me so i can make copies for other people that want it. will send originals back to the owners. i also want a copy for myself personally.

"anyway... anyone who wants this distro can either: post me three blanks and a couple of stamps and i'll burn em up and return 'em to you"

ill email you to ask you for your details so i can send you 3 blank cds. or if you want i send you 3 redhat cds (4 if you want the documentaion) and you send me a copy of mandrake 3 cds.

whichever you prefer i shall email you.
