Ok, After some HEAVY d/l'ing of some mandrake .iso's because of the linux article in this months at0mic, i have almost used half my monthly limit in the first few days of the month :( So what i was thinking was that if all the at0micans that are into all flavours of *nix and any other open source programs, put together a list in this thread along side contact details such as an e-mail address or msn, icq... So that people that dont have access to d/l these open source programs or dont want to kill there d/l limit for the month can go through this list, find what they want, send off a money order (or pay by other methods) and have their cd's posted to them. There are a few rules: *** No profit is to be made from the exchanging of goods. We need to agree on a set price that everyone is willing to pay, that will cover the cost of the media that it is sent on, the packaging, and the postage cost, perhaps $4 for the first cd and add $1 for each additional cd. *** No illegal software is to be traded, if it is then obviously this thread will be shut down Well thats it tell me what you think, and i hope this works out :) ------ Message Edited By: trev99, 8/9/02 1:33:10 PM ----- "I am not a number... update: Monash mirror now has RedHat 8 up. dl'd the 5 iso's yesterday, burning copies today. will send if you contact me =) hey all.. i'm on campus at monash uni in clayton, so have LAN access to the monash uni ftp mirror. there seems to be full mirrors of redhat, slackware, debian.. actually, the readme in the mirror folder says: ================================================ Most of the stuff here is mirrored from elsewhere. We mirror: ftp://mirror.aarnet.edu.au/pub/linux/kernel -> pub/linux/kernel plus selected parts (at least enough for an i386 installation) of : ftp://mirror.aarnet.edu.au/pub/linux/redhat -> pub/linux/distributions/redhat ftp://mirror.aarnet.edu.au/pub/linux/redhat-security -> pub/linux/distributions/redhat-security ftp://mirror.aarnet.edu.au/pub/redhat-rawhide -> pub/linux/distributions/redhat-rawhide ftp://mirror.aarnet.edu.au/pub/linux/debian -> pub/linux/distributions/debian ftp://mirror.aarnet.edu.au/pub/linux/debian-non-US -> pub/linux/distributions/debian-non-US ftp://mirror.aarnet.edu.au/pub/linux/slackware -> pub/linux/distributions/slackw are ================================================== if you want anything out of these or anything else on the monash ftp site, ftp://ftp.monash.edu.au/pub/ drop me a line at l0chness@iprimus.com.au and we'll see what we can do. =) ------ Message Edited By: l0chness, 15/10/02 9:03:55 AM ----- mmm. atoms..

"There are a few rules: *** No profit is to be made from the exchanging of goods." this has to be made sure that under no circumstance no profit is to be had from this exchange. "We need to agree on a set price that everyone is willing to pay, that will cover the cost of the media that it is sent on, the packaging, and the postage cost, perhaps $4 per cd? " if there is more than one cd. cant we like have a fixed price for delivery anywhere to aus. and then a fixed price per number of cd. "*** No illegal software is to be traded, if it is then obviously this thread will be shut down " this has to be looked at closely. as for me i am willing to burn copies for people (for a small sum to cover delivery and cds.) if they are willing to send me copies which i shall return to original owner. ------ Message Edited By: 1bolHungLo, 6/9/02 5:20:27 PM ----- Body like a popstar, face like a rockstar. -Me "But the speed difference is something only the most anal-retentive performance freaks would notice... 1bolHungLo, For delivery, im not sure how much it is going to cost. This is how im going to post the cd's i am sending to people. *** Put them in a cd-case. *** Put cd case/s into a protective cd post pack (avaliable from post office). *** Send it away. All up this should cost around $4 per cd. Will give details in the next few days, when i send of the first cd's. :) "as for me i am willing to burn copies for people (for a small sum to cover delivery and cds.) if they are willing to send me copies which i shall return to original owner. " By saying this are you offering to back up software that people would normally HAVE to pay for? Because... if you are this is a big NO NO ! The reason i started this was because *nix is open source so it can be distributed amongst people, i dont want warez to be any part of this exchange program, and i would appriciate it if you would not offer such services.
