EOI: Atomic 40K Day - where and when?

I could try I guess? It'd just be a bit alien to me, my main experience is sharp highlights and wetblends in Eldar and High Elf armies xD A rough and rugged ork force would be quite different!

Be aware the models are the snap fit ones, not the same as the usuals models. By all accounts they are still customisable and as detailed as the normal models though. I'll be getting the box to round out my marine force and hopefully bring me up to 1500pts.

You mean like the 2nd Space Marines with the push-on arm/gun?

I prefer them TBH - I dont mind putting space marines together, but the seperate arms and guns and shoulder pads delay building time to much for my liking (ie: They shit me :P )

Then again, I prefer metal models too - More stable on the gaming table *shrug*

Yeah, pretty much.

Just glue some washers into the base of your plastic models to give them more weight and stability. I hate the metal models for their extra cost and how fiddly they are to clean up the mold lines.

Mold lines aren't the biggest issue for me on metal models. It's getting a DEAD smooth surface. For that you need some kind of filler.

http://www.paintingclinic.com/operations/eldarproject/fireprism.htm

This is what I mean. But mold lines are still an issue. What I hate most is thinking I've gotten rid of all of them, get into a bit of painting THEN finding one. Some of the poor sods at ozpainters that I've spoken to have gotten as far as 10 hours in before having a mold line spotted by a mate. Very frustrating <.<

Well! Good to see that you're all getting busy while I'm between homes!
My army is just awaiting final coats on the swarm and it'll be ready for play - unless I get the 300$ box...
I haven't checked all of the last two pages - do we have a date yet????

Heya Khirareq! I've got the Assault on Black Reach box on order (impatiently drums fingers) and fifth edition rules assimilation is fairly complete. Of course, now that the 'nids are getting all painted and all, the other armies are looking at them enviously - Orks and Guard want assembly!
Then there's the imperial sector terrain to assemble and paint. And some random bits of scratch-built stuff like fences and walls - amazing what you can do with pva, matchsticks and woodstrips - and too much free time.

Dates - anyone??? How about some 1k battles?

OK, as I'm now a Melbournite, I'm keen to find out if any other Melbournites are 40K players. I need a reason to keep painting!

I haven't played in years - would like to try out the v5 ruleset at some stage but I'm just in it for the painting at this stage.

Not enough room to paint where I am at the moment - I move in a week so might get more into it again then...

Hmm, I might have to get talking to Hector and yourself at Beerathon tonight...

Yeah I'm thinking a Black Reach set is a good idea too - gives enough marines to round off an army quite nicely, new rules and the start of an Ork army...

Canbra: Looking at getting some smaller 500 point battles in over the next couple of weeks if anyone is interested

Just staging little mock scenarios to work out the finer points of the rules at the moment, and want someone else to argue and correct me where Im wrong

Got Space Marines, Tyranids, Orks, and Tau going - So even if you just want to pop round quickly and tell me where Im wrong

Respond in thread or PM me

Or do what I'm planning, and trade off the half you dont collect for the half you do. I'm hoping some other nerd is in the store Saturday who doesn't play marines and wants extra orks, otherwise I'll set up a trade on a forum somewhere.

Yeah, did that with Khir with the Macragge set when I was still in Canberra - he got the 'nids and I got the marines and we split the cost. Shoot me a PM if you're interested in doing something similar with the Orks this time - I'll probably get my own set anyway and get a reasonable Ork contingent that way...
