EOI: Atomic 40K Day - where and when?

Maniacs, I have been chatting with the divine Mr. H., and he suggested we discover just how many 40K players there are, and plan when the A40K Day was going to be. So here's your chance.

Name, army(ies), location and availability are what we need to start with. Given the interest in various threads over the past few months, we know you're out there. Prove you're the ultimate geek by getting involved.

A tabletop battle competition run with Atomic technophiles - don't forget your propeller hats!

August sometime? Canberra?

What about the idea of the Sydney-siders hiring a minibus?

Mykl_c - Tyranids, Space Marines, Orks - Wollongong NSW
David H - Tau, Guard - Sydney
Khirareq - Tau, modelling- Canberra
G-relk - umm - Bateman's Bay
Hectorgustnuts - Space Marines - Melbourne
NightOwl - painting - Melbourne
.exe - Chaos SM - Bateman's Bay
m4rx>> - umm - Chatswood
Kung-fu Hung-su - models, painting - Canberra
Hyperfly - Space Marines, mebbe Orks - umm
NeoDaemon69 - Necrons - Goulburn

Not finished so don't panic if you're not on this list yet!

Terrain
mykl_c - Ruined temple, Moonscape, Guard fortification, Sanctum (aka PITA multibit puzzle), Macragge bits, alien hill

If you'd like to arrange pre-meet games or whatever, do it in this thread so we get an idea of the activity - please??

Yah yah!

You know - I'd even be interested in some workshop style stuff - I'm willing to give away assembly advice if Hung will show me some painting tips ;)

EDIT:

Oh yeah:

Tau - Waaay too much Tau. Ill grab 'em out of storage this weekend and do a count (Fucking drones......)

Great idea Khirareq! Might even tempt some non-players/collectors.
Wonder if GW might come to the party... Mr H??

I'll willingly share my enthusiasm and excitement for the hobby! I think it's a great way for kids to learn some hand-eye skills that don't involve a mouse, keyboard or controller, and come away with something that lasts longer than the flickering of a pixel.

So, what army/ies???

Also - when was the last time that the Sydney crew went to Canberra? Time to pay the ACT gang back for all the trips they've made?

Well, I regularly ply in Canberra anyway - wouldn't be a huge change :)

And if it's popular, I'd be happy to see if we can get GW on board.

Oh yeah... David H., Guard. Boo-YAH!

Sinamorata - I'm fairly sure we could scavenge up something for you. Where are you based?
Given the breadth of the hobby, there's sure to be some people who are more collectors/painters/modellers than players. A painting/assembling table shouldn't be too hard to organise, and there's already been some discussion of technique sharing. Why not pop into your closest GW store and grab something?

Don't forget - Next Saturday (26th April) is the Warhammer 25th birthday celebration, cake and auctions at all stores. I've picked up some great bargains at the last few auctions (like an old Ork battalion box for $50!), and the last one is going to be huge.

You guy sknow I'm keen =) I personally like to paint at Mindgames in the city along with painters from the Ozpainters forums because GW shun my use of non-GW paint. I'm still on good terms with GW Woden, I just don't like to paint there xD

I'm keen on the idea of putting together either a Monstrous Creature themed bug or Grey Knight army. So there are fewer models for me to paint up and showcase my juicing skills.

I'd be interested, but I can only bring mah Spehs Mreens, which kinda sucks, 'cos that's what everybody plays :P

I'm looking at starting up an Ork army, what with the new codex out and all. They were my first love back when I was still a grot, it'd be nice to come back to them now they're all shiny.

Why don't you just put the whole world in a bottle...?

Hung - Good to have you aboard Soldier!

What were those paints again? I've been experimenting with the Derivan Minis range, mostly because I like the twist-top dropper bottles, and the approx third price of Citadel paints.

Put your paint into camouflage Citadel bottles??? I should have 15-20 old bottles you could use!

You can squeeze what into an MC theme army? 6 'fex (3 cheap elite, 3 heavy suppt), Tyrant +what? Trygon? Heirodule? Heirophant ? Malanthrope? I can't find the rules for including these in an army.

Hyperfly - Bring 'dem SM along, we'll find somewhere for them. If I get seriously busy, I might have this old Ork battalion assembled and table ready, 16 boyz, 5 bikes, one buggy and one (old) Trukk.

Hey, what kinda points are we thinking of?

Also, for paints, I am in love - deep, serious MANLOVE - with Vallejo paints. Used them on that Commissar I PMed you and they are the shit. High pigment count, and paints over black beautifully.

Damn...no love for the Melbournites then.

Depending on a lock-down time and place...I'd be tempted to fly up to Sydney or Canberra for a weekend.

I've not played in years though (since 2nd ed.) so I'm likely to be very noob.

Oh, and I can field a 1000 point Ultramarines army.

I'm using Coat d'arms paint atm. Being based on the citadel line I don't think they're amazing but they were cheap. How well do the derivan paints thin down? Coverage?

I would like to get some Reaper stuff, at the last ozpainters meet the organiser there had some and the stuff just looks amazing. Its too thick to use straight out of the bottle, but you can just keep adding water to it and the pigments won't break up, it looked awesome.

That's basically it for bugs =) Couple of stealer broods for troops then get as many big nids as possible. I have a friend who has a Trygon but I'm not ready to paint or game with such a thing.

On the topic of 'nids...anyone want my 8 termagaunts, 6 genestealers and 8 mine spores from the Macragge box?

All untouched, still on sprues with bases.

Free to good home.

OOOH OOOH OOOH!!!! mememememe!!!
That'll save me having to buy another couple of boxes - which saves the pension money for such less important things like food!
Also gives my Broodlord a retinue. He looked kinda lonely there all by himself.

Mr H. - Points wise, I'd say you seem to have the largest and widest collection atm. What about an Apocalypse battle for the main event (so even the small armies like mine get in) and some 750-1250 point battles determined by lot?
Larger battles dependent on available models.

Hector has just inspired me to suggest the possibility of trading - if you have any models you no longer love, why not arrange to bring them along and see if there's any interest in trade?

I think actually selling might be frowned upon, especially if we can get GW on side.

If interested, drop a list in here - if the Gods agree??

Done. They're yours.

PM me your addy and I'll get 'em in a padded bag for you over the weekend.

I'm certain that there are a few Melbournians who play (I'm certain TinBane plays). Perhaps some kind of campaign set-up for people that can't get to NSW easily...and big meets a couple of times a year where state winners play each other.

I'm just chucking ideas out there...if someone picks 'em up and cleans them up it would be nice.

Hector, I love the idea of an Atomic campaign - that's great. Tradings a good idea too. I'm sure we all have more than we know what's good for :)

Campaign... Who wants to write the battle reports? I guess I'll nominate for NSW sechetary as I have a little free time.

Can we get an occasional 2-3cm in the community pages for score updates?
;p

Trading -
21 Flagellants + command, 21 Greatswords +command, all metal, based and primed black. There's more Empire, I'll have to check, couple of troop boxes NIB etc.
About 40 Catachan infantry, half painted, half semi-assembled.
