I personally don't think I've ever locked and posted a final word bagging myself out for the shameful lock....

Our legal system keeps the executive separate from the judiciary.

It's kind of a big thing.

Not really.

Our seperation of powers isn't as complete as we'd like, you know that.

Besides, this is a dictatorship not a democracy on this site.

I know the seperation of powers is not complete, but it is in place, and it is the concept which is very important.

Not on a free website it's not.

My response to your comment was in a legal context, not the website context.

But the discussion was about the website, and it's goings on.

Does this issue mean there is no accountability in the moderation of the forums, apart from relying on faith? Mods could actually delete posts, and you would have to go to EA to see who did what?

Who exactly should the Mods be accountable to? Currently they are accountable to David Hollingworth, what's wrong with that?

What's ESA?

Despite the fact that mods sometimes make calls that the individuals (or the community) don't agree with, they always remain accountable for their actions.

Rob.

Robzy,

That is not what I meant.

I meant apparantly the other mods can not see who deleted a post, which means there is not necessarily acocuntability. Like in this case, if no one owns up(assuming someone did delete it and it was not an error), then EA(evil admin) would have to check.

Midnighter,

The discussion is, the comment was not.

TheSecret you're vendetta against the *ods and apparnetly our ability to delete posts is wearing a bit thin mate.

It's almost as though you think that there's a rouge Mod going around deleting posts (oh heavens no!) and not admitting to it. This I assure you is NOT occurring.

There are a number of aspects of moderation that require action by Evil Admin, not the mods. I'm VERY happy with this, because it means we can't do things like read PMs.

Could a "Rogue Mod" cause carnage without being identified?

Well, if the carnage was the deleting of posts in 12 month old threads, I'd guess they would get away with it for some time.

But back in reality, as soon as a couple of rogue events were identified, Mr Admin would be on the case so the rogue behavior would be short lived indeed.

So in reality, no.

/wonders if he should lock this thread to make sure Mods get the last word

:P

Gharphield,

It is not a vendetta, but a valid concern. The possibility of an error is not dismissed, but if a post was deleted, and nobody claims to have done so, what is the answer? As Mac dude pointed out, it is possible, I do however think it more likely it will be cleared up naturally, for what its worth.

Rouge mod? Oh no!

Personally though I'm more concerned about the lipstick Evil Admin.

Oops! Sorry! I've been awake too long, and thought this thread was seehund thread, where a post was deleted and no one knew why.

allegedly deleted :)

This is the second time while I've been a mod that something like this has happened. In every other occasion it's been an accidental deletion, or, something that is much more common, the person finds their post in a different thread.

Just like you thought you were posting in another thread with your last post :)

It is possible that a mod deleted seehund's post by accident, but it would be difficult unless it was RTM'ed which it wasn't.

So, the case is unsolved...

(I can remember deleting 3 posts by accident myself, 2 were mine)

This thread is a paradox [?]. A mod can't lock it and say the last word without confirming the OP.

Maybe I've just become too cynical lately, but the moment director started that thread I knew exactly what was going to happen. The sad part about it was my prediction was correct.

So you knew something bad was going to happen but didn't try to stop it?

Isn't there a law against that?
