And the great covers just keep on coming!
(Well, on the subs edition anyway)

For those who don't sub....do it now!
Don't let Virtuoso win the great prize on offer because I'm sure he'll be resubscribing this month!

Just a quick flick through, I just happened to notice David H looking pensive whilst David F looks a bit worse for wear!

:( My subs copy is in Canberra and I don't have a permanent address in Cairns yet. I'll have to get it from the newsagency though.

Are there photos from Meet 8.0?

I just read it a minute ago. I thought it was quite good. Some nice reviews. I really liked the article on the origin of some lesser keys and keyboards.

Anyone know where I can get a DVORAK keyboard? I haven't ever seen them around.

Ah yes, there was much gnashing of teeth and yelling at Design-Dave for using that pic.

Fun times.

Attention David West -- Atomic's designer and the man who was ultimately responsible for the photo of me in the back:

I hate you.

Goddammit, I got no sleep at all on the flight from the USA and my 0600h lading was followed immediately by 20 hours of partying with the Atomicans!

/me updates shit list...

Some points regarding the finished product: (Subscriber Edition)

P29 - Survey URL is wrong, it has an additional S.
P73 -Boxout has half a URL.

But most importantly - we are Australian. We spell the word 'Litre', not 'Liter'. Sorry - as it was the first thing I read it really made me squirm.

Overall, I have enjoyed the issue and its lack of reviews about ridiculously priced mobos/ram. Much more worthwhile for the the average joe. Good work.

Nice to know we can still make people squirm!

What?

Oh, not in a good way. Right.

Anyway, mistakes happen, sadly. The cutoff url is for this site, and hopefully most people can work out the correct url for the Atomic website :)

A Question re the graphics card Benchmarks.

Did you use the same system config and settings as described in the 260/280 vs 4850/4870 comparo as for the individual reviews later on (e.g. 9800GT)?

The scores seem somewhat similar.

LOVED martigen's kb piece. Only one man in the galaxy could make keyboards interesting. Aced it.

Also seriously loving the subs covers. Beautiful, and the photography is just perfection.

Yes, it was the same system config.

It seems in my settling in, I accidentally gave designer Dave (yes, that is a total of three Daves around the office - makes for some interesting conversations) the same benchmark scores for those 9600GT's. They were within about .5 of a frame per second within each other, but thanks for pointing it out.

I concede that as one of the few errors that will be popping up in the mag, caused by me :)

about half way through reading so far, pretty good.

Noticed a mistake though in the "red vs green" section,
the hd4850 specifications are listed as "2x 6 pin with a dual slot cooling solution" which of course it's only single slot with 1x 6 pin. Just thought I'd point that out

cant you just pull the keys off the qwerty and reshuffle them, then change the keyboard layout settings in the control panel?

Yep, but I don't think many of today's cheaparsed keyboards have the proper removable keycaps.

Atomic normally doesn't cater for the average joe, there are other magazines for that.

Consider this issue an aberration from the norm.

Next month, the mag will be looking at how to rig up a reverse poly-matrix induction processor through the PCI-Express slot using a 1:20 ratio liquid/hydradolyexcylionian solution. With it, you'll be able to emulate a low level UltraSPARC system to trace vectored processes coming from a variety of Intel chipsets.

We - for the most part - really like ridiculously priced mobos/ram. We might not buy them, but we like to look at the pretty pictures and dream. It's Atomic.
