I'm begging David, there's another thread suggesting macshit might make it's way into Atomic, you can't let that happen....for your sake and ours...

The idea of coming across a mac article unsuspectingly in something I look forward to makes me distraught...really it does, I'm not being funny. I enjoy this magazine and if it's not bad enough Josh is leaving were threatened with this shit. I don't swear much but I've had about 100 swear words run through my mind in 5 seconds, yes including the "C" word.

you mean "no more mac crap in atomic... again"

There already have been articles on the Mac.
If it was about overclocking the Mac, then I'm for it, afterall Atomic is about Maximum Power Computing. And last I checked, Macs are computers.

If the article shows you doing things that the Mac was never intended to do, then go for it I say.

If it's about it's usability or just a comparison between it and a PC, I will read something else.

Really morris, I expected more from you than that. Why on earth would anyone want to spend 3k on a mac when they can simply buy a PC equivelant that will tear its balls off without even bothering with overclocking?

I would never buy a Mac. If I was given one, I'd get rid of it. I hate Macs.
I have gone into the Mac store across from my work wearing this shirt
http://www.tshirthell.com/funny-shirts/usheep/
I stand in the iPod section at work wearing the shirt and openly declaring my hatred of iPods and things Mac related.

But I won't deny the fact that it is technology and that I'm interested in how the Mac differs from a computer down at the kernel level.
I don't care about how shiny it is. I'm interested to see how people get more out of their computers, no matter the brand or OS.

I still hate them, but I have a thirst for knowledge. The more I know, the more I can make fun of.

EDIT: Incidently, did you notice that the forums have a Mac section?
http://www.atomicmpc.com.au/forums.asp?s=2&c=32

Why should we deny one part of the forums/target audience?

on the contrary, i like macs... especially the notebooks.

it certainly isn't for people who prefer to build their own pcs and upgrade components regularly, but there's no denying that apple produce some very sleek equipment.

atomic is not only about breaking components, but also testing, appreciating and possessing all shiny new toys... especially high performing ones :)

i, for one, would be very interested in atomic's test bench results with a mac thrown into the works :)

Well nightowl at least I am putting forth suggestions that offer alot better value for money than what the mac zealots are. Are you really that insecure and void of identity that you'd buy something only because you thought it looked shiny and sleek? I wonder what part of the human mind blocks the intelligent option from being implemented?

Sounds like Jennyb is just worried more people actually might like the mac after reading the articles and possibly think of purchasing one. Having a go at "mac zealots" and you're a pc zealot? hmmm

I don't like Apple or Macs, but when I don't like something I don't use it. And when I see an article about said item I just don't read it. Simple.

"Are you really that insecure and void of identity that you'd buy something only because you thought it looked shiny and sleek?"

Knowing Nightowl in person I can gaurantee she doesn't purchase something on looks alone, far from it. She, like everyone else, will purchase something on performance, and if Mac performs better for her needs then so be it.

"I wonder what part of the human mind blocks the intelligent option from being implemented?"

Probably the same part of the human mind which is stopping you from allowing others to have a valid preference.

I own PCs, I own Macs.

I see absolutely no issue in buying something in part because of its form, as much as its function.

And Jennyb, while you're busy running around with your pitchfork yelling "Burn them!" consider this;

My Windows XP laptop has crashed around eleventy billion times since I bought it with various O/S errors.
My Macbook has crashed a total of zero times.

That's worth hard earned cash to me. Let people choose and buy what they want, and don't be so narrow minded about the world of computers.

That is so very un-Atomic.

Because honestly, we could use more variety out there in the choice of hardware platforms.

Mod coming in shortly to lock? Checked, thanks Chaos.Lady :)

If I were given a mac, I'd either sell it or give it to a relative who needs the use of a computer, but is so utterly hopeless at using one that they need something simpler. And that is the gap in the market that apple fill. Well, also the technophiles, but that's a given.

And, to add some content, it seems that the Mac Pro can be overclocked through software, though it has the hilarious downside of speeding up the system clock too (as in actual time). So they can be overclocked, but you can't have a simple thing like the clock working :D

Jennyb, please keep this sort of stuff to one thread to make it easier for everyone to find, and keeps discussion complete. It's fine for you to argue against an argument, however starting a completely new thread when you disagree with something in another thread is not the way to do it.
