The "Subscriber's Edition"

I couldn't find any other threads about this (maybe I had a boys' look....) so I thought I'd start a new one.

Is it just me or is anyone else having trouble locating a month/year/edition number on the front cover of the "Subscriber's Edition" magazine?

I know the edition number is printed in teeny, tiny little letters on the magazine spine, but what about the front? I keep looking at the mag, wondering "Which one is this?"

Surely it wouldn't be too hard to put "July 2008, Edition 90" or some such thing on the front cover, would it?

yeah, it probably wouldn't be hard to do at all, probably comparable in difficulty to turning the mag 90 degrees and reading the spine :P

We did think long and hard about that, but figured that a) most people, if they do file their mags, file them on a shelf with the spine out, and b) that we really wanted to keep the cover as clean and balanced as possible. Wherever we did put those details, it really did detract from the look.

<nonsensical impractical suggestion>

Just print the number on in UV ink, so that it can't be seen under normal light. Send out a cheap UV LED torch with each sub as an optional extra $5.

</insanity>

It's not that much effort to find :)

What about people who file their mags in a vinyl folder, so that there is NO possible chance of reading the spine?

(I'm not going to win this one, am I?) :}

Cancel the sub? Cancel the sub!

Now *that* is blasphemous.

The one on the spine is all you need.
You just memorise the covers.

For those of you using the binder, just use a permanent marker to write the year/month/number on the front.

I think you are "stuck". Perhaps get one of those label printers? Don't think david can be persuaded to print the information you want on the cover :P
