Is it worth devoting an issue to the products that make computing comfortable? I mean not to many of us can upgrade our graphics card at every new product release. The items above may seem trivial to some, but would resolve some decision making for many of us. Maybe a single article on the "Ultimate Setup" would prove entertaining, sort of like the highend computer meets perfect near sound proof room that's painted black etc etc...with comfy sofa etc and bar fridge...?? Oh and how about puting a hunky guy in the mag, your female audience is left a little "wanting"

Well there is already call for a mouse roundup
http://www.atomicmpc.com.au/forums.asp?s=1&c=3&t=2832
I'm hoping to include keyboard and other input devices.

I guess the difficulty with an "ultimate setup" is that everyone has different ideas on what should be included.

As if you need more manliness than David. There's a picture of him for his editorial :P

David keeps hitting me up for a photo shoot RE: cover, but I just can't devote the time right now.

He's a needy bugger though, so I'll probably give in and wear the booth babe outfit he's got in mind one of these days.

the AMD logo is just so damned itchy on my rear....

Looks cute though.

we need a chair and desk roundup, just to see what insane benchmarking tests atomic come up with.

Anyone for desk testing? just see how long it can stand David jumping on it.

Leather chairs = drool

and i think jennyb needs a pygmy david cutout delivered . . .

and btw i do actually need some new stuff. still using crappy beige speakers and CRT monitor, with keyboard and mouse courtesy of Officeworks and a 9 year old $50 office chair.

my wrists sound like cement mixers. . . . .

I bought some speakers recently, Altec Lansing 2.1's, I just wanted to listen to music whilst working, they turned out to be ordinary. Did I do research and read reviews? You bet. I hardly found anything on 2.1's and when I looked at product realised that people don't actually make "high end" 2.1's, unless I missed them of course. I also wanted to get a monitor, a large one and almost settled on a Samsung 305T then realised that the "magictune" calibration software wasn't compatible with my card. After considering the crappy 6ms response time dumped the idea. Then I thought about getting a spacepilot for CAD work, then thought maybe the new Belkin n52te might do an ok job but no one has one. At least the Razer lycosa and copperhead mouse turned out ok, even though two of the programable buttons on the mouse are hard to access. See what I mean? Thousands of people spending thousands of hours checking all this stuff out...when David could simply do it all. Make mine sunny side up David and easy on the margarine, cheers!

I doubt you'd find anything that was specifically "computer related" in terms of speakers etc that was high end (sound cards being the exception obviously, but if you're spending big dosh [e.g. 1K min] on a soundcard, you've probably got some proper audio equipment that isn't anywhere near the same boat as "computer speakers")

Thanks SFDave I already blew the audio budget on a Jamo/Denon setup but it's in the other room, I still think there is room for a quality 2.1 setup. I think its the speakers rather than the sound card that let my setup down. I went for the isobaric amp because it works so well on my Jamo's but in the Altec's it just vibrates the floor really. To think I thought all that BS about Jamo spending heaps on case design was just BS.It wasn't!!

When Vin Diesel plays any video game, God mode automatically turns on.

Diesel has played Dungeons & Dragons for over twenty years and wrote the foreword for the commemorative book 30 Years of Adventure: A Celebration of Dungeons & Dragons. In the 30th Anniversary of Dungeons and Dragons issue of Dragon Magazine, they examine the fact that Diesel played Dungeons and Dragons, and reveal that he has a tattoo of his character's name, "Melkor," on his back.

According to an interview with Curt Schilling, Vin Diesel is huge a fan of World of Warcraft, on account of installing a computer game system on one of his cars for this purpose.

I just had a great idea, why don't we vote for the reviews we want to see in Atomic? Personally I'm thinking monitors, can't find a recent monitor review anywhere.
