Awesome new 'award' and a sugestion

Covering 2 topics in this one thread.

1. Absolutely love the Atomic award of Epic Fail, that is fantastic, lol.

2.
Reguarding David saying he wants to overhaul the kitlog and atomicans constantly saying 'the kitlog is wrong' hows this for an idea.

Each month, you make 3 stickied threads (they'll probably have to be custom done because you'll need more options).
Budget:
Performance:
Extreme:

a list of hardware atomic is happy to 'endorse' in their magazine in the poll, and we tick a box on the hardware we like the most\feel is most suitable?

Either that or make a webpage with a voting process. get those webmonkeys to cheatuse a GUI, and make a simple:
select your option (using radio buttons), and click next.

-
This way atomic gets to still have a say in what hardware COULD be in the kitlog, and the community gets to decide which is truly correct. Not that the At0mic team is incapable of this, I just get the impression that you spend your month working on the big jobs, so pawn off the small job to us :D

Also, if you go the webpage option, sticky 3 threads each month anyway so we can discuss why and what we chose.

I feel it'd give me a feeling of being involved with my mag.

Cheers Gods,

Scythe.

I suggested a similar thing a while back, and coincidently, also sent David a concept for the mag a few days back.

Hopefully he sees this thread and remembers! :P

My idea was not to alter the existing three, but instead have one extra section called 'Atomican Choice' which is the agreed upon "sweet spot" system for that month. Like your idea, a thread would be created (and not a poll) in which people explain their reasoning for parts/systems.

Oddly enough, the idea of involving readers in the page has been suggested more than once, and I think it's definitely a good way to go in the future.

Rest assured, work is being done :)

EEEEEEeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeexeeeeeeellllllll-ent

Yeah I had heard of the atomican choice idea, and agree its a good one, but if we got the page to controll then the 'performance' system would be that one.

Whichever one happens will be awesome.

Clearly i like my idea better, but thats caus its my idea and will always be the case lol, though id be more than thrilled at Cybers good idea also.

either way, good to know we're being thought of.
Ive been thinking of you too

I think that the categories should be renamed to something more Atomic.

Hell, even just re-name the "Extreme" one to "Maximum Powered!". Suits the mag name, and it's pretty damn obvious how fast it would be in comparison with the rest.

Though Cyb3r's lists were laughable as actual ones, even the budget one is all wrong :P

It doesn't even have to be as effort-intensive as posting three separate stickies, just choose two or three Atomicans to collaborate each month and propose our list to you David , and you yea or nay it, and change what you don't like.

LOL. Those parts were the budget list in an older issue, then I put the same in all of them. :P

It was to show layout, not an actual example build!

I'm not that bad. :)

Personally, i'd put less trust on a list put together by atomicans than i do in the list put together by the staff.

And not to disrespect the staff.... but some of the choices have been kinda silly :P

Personally, i dont like this idea at all. Something different, yes. Something else, for the sake of change though? No.

Well that's why I suggested having both the staff and user input, not change the entire thing. Trust or not, the systems suggested on the forum exceed the standard of those in the current Kitlog. This is purely because of the limitation of choice, not everything can be reviewed by the magazine, and therefore the staff cannot choose options that are better.

For those that don't trust us, they can look at the review based staff options. Win win. :P

Sounds like it is just complicating the system, for little benefit.

It's not complicated. David will just have to set a price point, and the selected members will send their suggestions with reasons. The best would be chosen from those.

Or, a thread could be started where people agree on a good system (similar to the common 'I need a $xxxx PC' threads).

It's worth a try, and if it fails, then it won't have to be put into the magazine. Easy.
