Anyone get it working?
GA refuses to recognise my account when signing in with pirates? I can sign in anywhere else on thier site though. I have emailed support...no answer...nearly 6gb download and then muck around with accounts? Not really "Atomic" is it? I just wanted it to work....gave up and went back to shooting peeps:)
Disfunctional software detracts from the magazine.

All I know is that we had no issues with installation and sign up. I am very sorry if other have experienced issues, however, and will pass this on to the promoters.

I don't think it is fair to lump this on Atomic's lap.

They were handed the game as a freebie in good faith from the distributor. I'd be more inclined to go shout on the GA forums;

I appreciate the feedback God:) I am glad that it works for you.

iamthemaxx, I lumped this on Atomic simply because they supplied it to me. If atomic had not of supplied it, I wouldnt of looked at it. lol @ shout about it on GA forums....wasted enough time on this already mate.

Have you googled for some problems? Checked out the Game Arena/Pirates forums for a solution before blaming Atomic?

It's not really "Atomic" is it to blame people who have no control over something if you haven't even tried to find a solution for it yourself.

EDIT: By the way I'm assuming you downloaded it from GameArena? Because if you downloaded if from anywhere else, even Australian mirrors it is most likely the US version. And will not work at all.

lol rogertheseal:) I am not "blaming" Atomic. Obviously you didnt read my post, I emailed support. You assume that I didnt look on the forums? I didnt download it....its on the front cover of Atomic! you assume too much mate! All I am saying, is that it reflects badly on Atomic. Atomic does not need a cd/dvd on it for me to buy it, But if one comes with it I want it to work, fair enough? I am not expecting anyhting from Atomic or Atomic to have the powers to fix the problem ok Rog? I am just providing feedback:)

Well when you said "nearly 6gb download" I assumed you downloaded it as well and it still didn't work.

I did read your post, and it doesn't sound like there was a problem with the software on the CD at all. Rather a problem with your GA account.

Have you signed up for the game on GameArena's Pirate site? Not downloaded from there, just signed up. I'm pretty sure you have to sign up with your existing GA account before you can play it.

Just so you know Rog, I have had an account with GA for years, (what Aussie gamer hasn’t?) I have had no problem with that account until I wanted to play pirates. The account has been reset by GA. Guess what, still can’t login and play pirates.
I know it’s a GA problem. It will be fixed in the fullness of time too.

Back when I was young and naive(read pre Atomic), I would go to the Newsagents and peruse the IT mags, check the cover cd's and waste hours/days of my time fiddling with software. Then Atomic was born "holy shit" something worth reading! Nuff said!

Hey, stop picking on GLC. He expressed a reasonable concern in a reasonable way. In fact, it's kind of useful that he alerted Atomic to some problems with the promotion they were carrying, as that can be passed on to the promoters, and might help others.

Picking on him? I was actually trying to give suggestions on what the problem was, because I know that even if you have an existing Game Arena account you have to sign up for the Pirates Trial separately from their site. You can't just use your GA account straight up without going through the pirates site.

I signed up for it ages ago downloading from GA and heard a bunch of other people with similar sorts of issues that stemmed from GA themselves not the software.

If I ticked anyone off it wasn't my intention.

Once the dvd is installed, first thing it does when you run Pirates is to update online, had to leave it "updating" overnight, the download figure came from some forum I was reading, 5.7gb if I remember correctly? then the account fun begins:)

Yeah, I can believe that about the downloads - sadly, with MMOs, even if you buy a commercial product over the counter, you'll get the same thing.

I do not mind downloading updates at all. To me it means that the game is going to run better so the bigger the update the more that has been fixed.
Suggestion: Maybe if in the future Atomic decide to promote a similar style game....Would it be possible for GA or whoever, to create an "Atomic" account and then use individual passwords to access, maybe use subscription number as password? This I feel would be easier for account management and would make the Atomic subscriber feel special, coz they are:) The promoter would also be able to see how succesful the promotion is. Just a thought.

It's a great thought, and there wouldn't be anything to make it impossible - other than whether or not the promoter wished to go to that much effort.

We can certainly suggest it, though :)

Thank you David:)
I would think that it would be almost ludicrous for them not to want/need to know how effective the "giveaway" of thier product was,:p

"Yes Mr Games Publisher"
"Atomic can give your game away for you that you spent so much $k's developing"
"Would you like to know who Atomic gave it too?"
"Pardon? No?"....fkn LOL!:p

When I got the mag, I was like 'cool, free game', then I realised it was online, and I was like 'damn, useless game'.

My copy of Pirates took 4 hours from the initial click on setup to actually installing then came the update I gave up and went back to solitaire.
