1994 SUBARU LIBERTY GX

then again, i assume a question of quality of a make of vehicle doesnt differ INCREDIBLY between hatch\coupe\sedan\ etc.

In my admittedly limited experience, Subarus appear to be supremely reliable.

Also, the amount of KM might speak about how much you can expect from it to.

At the moment im looking at '94 Honda Accords which are more-or-less in the same bracket, and KM varies from 150k - 300k.

I'm told, although I have nothing to base this on other than the words of my mechanic, that you can expect at LEAST 300,000km from a Subaru motor, if well looked after, before needing major work. Boxers are stonger than inlines. Dunno aobut comparing it to Toyota. I imagine the Toyo's are cheaper to service/repair. Again, just going on anecdotal information.

My mechanic drives one of those horrible, boxy Leone wagons, has over 400k on the clock.

My mate that helped me wire up an engine swap in my nissan was getting around in his flat mates subaru wagon. I don't know what model it was but it was a similar age to the one you have in mind. He said it was really nice and reliable. I think it had high k's too. I don't really like subarus but i've never owned one to compare. He really liked his flatmates subaru and plans on buying one.

Hope his thoughts are of help

The wife just sold her 92 liberty 295k on the clock and still going strong. The interior was better that some of the cars that have done less than 60k but she really looked after it and so did the previous owners.

Never had any major problems just general wear and tear. They just keep going on for ever.

The only problem my family ever had with their Subaru was CV joints, which were complicated due to the fact it was 4wd. They were expensive to fix, but otherwise the car was good.

Hello, I own a mercedes 2003 e320 and an 1989 RR Silver spur 2. But before these cars i used to own a 1994 subaru liberty and it was the most reliable car i have ever had. soi would recomend the subaru. Honda crx is also a good reliable car.

I've got a 91 Liberty sedan, dark tinted windows and atomic stickers on it FTW!!! woot

I've had it for three years and it's got about 285k on the clock and it's going so strong and purrs like a kitten. The only thing I've done is kept it serviced and plugged up a small hole in the exhaust with some putty, but for 15 years old I can't complain. It's reliable and goes pretty hard too when it needs to. I'd give my left teste for an RS (turbo) version though.

Oh yeah and they drive like they're on rails....AWD muddavugga :D

Yes they are generally very reliable. Try and get a low K one though. They can be expensive to fix though if something does go wrong.

The 94 Subaru as with all subaru's made after 92 have their problems but these are like any front wheel drive car, check CV shaft boots for rips, also check for play in the CV housing and of course leaks.

These can be pretty expensive to repair as with any front wheel drive car as i said. The only problem the sub's have is with the auto window mech's, these tend to jam after awhile (subarus are not a straight up and down affair, these angle going down).

As long as you look after it all is good.

As for reliability? these things are brilliant. Takes awhile to get used to the flat 4 sound and being a person that has driven inline more than flat i always thought the thing was running out of tune.

Mod options? STACKS!, exhaust, chip, turbo option etc etc (see rallyart).

The wagon versions of these are not too bad either, the centre console is similar to the toyota camry, its not very stylish but it works, the other option here if your willing to play around with it and do it up is to adopt the console from a later model (yes they will fit).

Hope that helps. as for pics? google isnt showing up too much, but look at the 95 which is very similar.

cheers
Sir.
