It may not take too long for great 3D game engines to switch to DX 9. I just read Massive Developments modernised the Krass engine TM to support Directx 9 - and its out in this quarter.

I don't personally like submarine based games, but the engine is surperb.

01/30/2003 AquaMark 3 is coming this quarter!
Development of AquaMark 3 is progressing well, so we are glad to be able to announce its release for Q1 of this year.
AquaMark 3 is the follow-up of the AquaMark 2.3 which had so far only be available for professional usage.

AquaMark 3 will be a fully DirectX 9-capable cutting-edge benchmark based on our krass™ engine which also powers AquaNox 2: Revelation. The AquaMark 3 benchmark allows users to observe the new graphical techniques made possible by DirectX 9 and determine the performance of these features in a real world application.

Contrary to its predecessor the AquaMark 3 will be available for public download.

WTF??? If it was a Open GL based game/benchmark, this would make sense, but a DX9 based game, doesn't. Unless of course they use some emulation layer ala winex of course, in which case, why would you bother.

I am ready to RTFM, just point me in the right direction....
