Fantastic!

I recently ripped the whole thing to my pod too. 700 cd's or so.

Yet to do the vinyl.

I think it's the penultimate self reflection. Ultimate being near-death experience, I would expect.

My 80's collection is offensive by modern standards, but every song is a memory.

That's something to be said for the 'music owners' of the mp3 world....Every song means something.

I don't think any single thing I've done in the last 10 years has grounded me as much as listening to every cd I ever grew up with.

Like a perpetual diary.

Boy bands were the 90s? What about NKOTB or Boys II Men (not so much a "boy band"...)

How about what was basically the first "boy band", The Monkees?

Beatles came in 1960 the Monkeys in 1965.

But earlier than that were Bill Haley & His Comets who had their first hit in 1953. the list of boy bands it to big to list here. :)

The Beatles weren't a manufactured pop hit, with advertising to drive it. Nor were Bill Haley and His Comets.

The Beach Boys formed four years before The Monkees. Not going to argue about the definition of "boy band" though. :)

It's a fair cop. I've never thought about it before...but I would agree that the Monkeys are about the closest thing to the beginnings of a boy band that I can think of.

I know it's '87... but it sorta just emboddied the '90's spirit...

*cough*

Anyhoo...

I went to a concert by savage garden (long story)... and it kinda really sucked...

too far back, Overly bright blinding lighting, other lighted elements got predictable, and they didnt really engage the audience at all, just play'd the music.

Best moment was hearing vanessa amarosi sing one of her songs... cut to the audience to sing a bit, and no one sang... she handled it like a champ tho :D

Tool defined the 90's musically for me.

"Undertow" just blew me away.

That's not to say I didn't/don't enjoy the pop classics and Hit Machine favourites, but the 90's were about Tool.

Oh, and Foo Fighters. Never got Nirvana, but loved the first two FF albums (Color and the Shape is still an all time favourtie album)
