We danced like new years eve
We danced from sheer relief
Everything must change

The people that you projected as
We were nothing of the sort it sold us all short
Put down the champagne
No toast to the legacy
And all the propaganda of prosperity
That's what a machine does and they don't need therapy
You turned us into a nation of haters
Far right appeaser
Believer in whatever get you leader
Dog whistle through the speakers
See who bites it

I noticed a hell of a lot of people liked it
An ethical choice is simpler if you price it
Conquer by dividing
That's why you admired him?
Unless pushed we would never have retired him
Fucken pirate history will damn him
Once it seemed like nothing can damage him
Crook, you got your arse played in Mandarin

Finally the King is Dead,
We cried off with his head
Everything must change, Everything must change
We danced like new years eve
We danced from sheer relief
Everything must change, nothing stays the same
Nothing stays the same oh, Nothing stays the same

Yeah cats I know are feeling just like the rapture
I can tell who this mood is failing to capture
It's like somebody finally did light that match up
And burn down the parliament, learned from the argument
Can't be non-partisan, when you're an artist
And you put your heart in it,
And that's not even the half of it
Like my man said, we're talking butter and bread
Better if his words were never uttered again
Mostly vindictive, who could have predicted
Just a few tax breaks to keep us all addicted
The dickhead dictator leader imitator
Made me feel immature when I said I hate ya
Did you read the paper the day after and hear the laughter?
I'll read it to you, it starts with M McKew and ends with you
No broader view from the people on your ship that you used to call crew
Huh! That's typical, now I guess it's difficult
For the type of person who only thinks of individual
No residual, you'll see our resilience
Take your bat and ball and head for the pavilion

i was brought to tears the fist time i heard that. seriously

Rudd seems to be putting forward policies based on actual outcome, and sadly this does include populist policies. but i havnt heard a blantant lie, i havn't seen barefaced bullshit and selfserving moneymaking like howard got away with for months on end.

I chose the lesser of two evils and my conscience is clear.

No. A good idea is a good idea. I am not convinced however that the idea in question is a good one.

That was a brilliant Part II song by The Herd - bloody clever too.

I don't care where the ideas come from. If you remember the opposition (Labor) when the Libs were in power were criticised for having no policy. When they came up with policies to counter the criticism the Libs stole them. So they went back to no policy and the cult of personality instead.

An good idea is a good idea whatever the source. NOT implementing it because you don't like the source would be stupid.

Why? It's all about KRudd taking Opposition ideas, continuing everything Howard used to do and then blaming the former government for it.

The only things KRudd has actually done by himself have an achievement and success rate of approximately -100%.

Things that spring to mind include:

-GroceryChoice ($12.9 million down the drain)
-The Aboriginal Apology (nobody in Redfern gave a shit - they just kept drinking themselves to death in the Block. I doubt they even heard it or appreciated it, once again - because they were drunk, on drugs, beating their wives half to death or generally weren't interested in some white guy telling them he wasn't personally sorry for fucking up the lives of ancestors they can't remember.)
-The Kyoto Protocol (do I actually need to say anything on that useless piece of political wankery?)
-WorkChoices (Yeah, it's almost a year later and they still can't make it disappear [maybe because it's actually a good system])
-His focus on climate change while people are telling him that they feel worse off since the election.
-The broadband plan

And the worst thing is, that our Opposition (as led by Nelson *spits in disgust*) is even more fucked in the head.

Bring back someone who had the balls to actually do something good.

So does it bother me that Rudderless Kevin is using former government ideas? No, it does not. Because if he starts making shit up by himself (like the carbon tax, his stupid websites), you may as well kiss this country goodbye. Krudd's ideas are frightening - because they're so stupid and populist.

I wasn't trying to be funny or grown up. I was trying to approximate what Rudd resembles by 90% of his actions so far.

I did vote Democrat. and my preferences put Labor before Liberal. my concience remains clear.

and how long did Howard blame Keating for his foibles.
its been 10 months, the economy doesnt jump around like an upset Liberal... i mean child, i mean you, actually no, child is right, at the change of a prime minister. like the environment, there is inertia.

and a chopped together youtube is so terribly convincing... you really should write a paper on it, no further research required.

Why didnt people just re elect John Howard then?

WorkChoiceLess.

And maybe they eventually got fed up with the lies and general arseholiness? About the Iraq war, about Tampa, about the NT intervention, about the GST, about immigration detention, etc...

Doesn't mean Howard did nothing right. The budgets were okay (too much tax cuts, too little infrastructure building), the gun buyback was good, the GST was good (yes I said it) etc...

But the lying and arrogance was pissing me off.

I recall Amanda Vanstone was blaming the problems with the Immigration Department on Labor, 11 years and 2 immigration ministers after the Liberals had first taken office.

I pissed myself when I heard that one, and so did the interviewer. :-p

Ages upon ages.

And it was bullshit then, as it is now.

Rudd's no saint. He's an idiot who I'd have no time of day for if he wasn't leading our country.

So did I.

I don't vote for idiots based on what they promise to do and I know, won't deliver.

I vote for people who will literally tell me to shut the fuck up, tell me something needs to be done, and then actually do it.

Rudd would never have had the balls to invade the NT despite the fact that it needed doing.

Latham fucked over his own votes in order to do a bit for the environment. Meantime our Retard-in-chief won the environment debate by signing some useless protocol, allowing more coal plants to be built and allowed more immigration, and reversed the tree-loping policy, plus is allowing the Tasmanian pulp mill - yet keeps talking about taxing us for our consumption and is telling us that we're bad because we produce emissions. Meantime his mates are signing on the dotted line to produce more CO2-spewing death traps in the La Trobe valley.

Bring Latham back. I'd vote for him in an instant.

God I hope Rudd gets voted out in 2 years. Worst Prime Minister we've had in 30 years, with possible kudos to Malcolm Fraser. Don't even get me started on Swanie, Conroy and Gillard. A more useless pack of cunts have never sat in government with possible exception to Vanstone and Nelson

Sadly, he'll never run again.

once upon a time, Beazley may have been a winner.

As for the rest of the thread. a good idea is a good idea, we need to break this 2 party left/right silliness if we are ever going to have someone do something really radical and benefitial.

I voted for Latham. He turned out to be a big sook but he had some good ideas and the will to implement them.

So if we all voted for Latham - why didn't he get elected? ;-)

Because there is one thing Australians fall for:

- Bullshit. It got KRudd elected after all. [Hopefully the Americans don't elect their version of KRudd.]

And if there's no bullshit from either side, they go for the safest option.

*And by Australians, I mean the "OMFG he's promising unsubstantiated change, I'm voting for him" idiots. Not all Australians.

*Not liking Howard (in my books) is not a good enough reason to putting in a personable idiot instead.

I'm somewhat disappointed with Rudd - but not in the least bit disappointed that we voted Howard out.

There's still time for Rudd to do a better job. From his education speech yesterday, I think he may be getting the message that people are expecting more reform, sooner. I remain hopeful the next 12 months will see more substantive actions.
