would you go to a job interview wearing a tye or not?

Would you bother making yourself look good or would you let your resume do the talking?

Depends on the job. Brickies offsider? I think a tie is overkill.

Depends on the job man.

If it's with an agency, don't bother, if it's with an actual employer, then again, it depends on the job.

I dress the way I would if I got the job.

I always go suit and tie.
I don't think you can overdress for the interview, just for the job itself.

I wrote my friend a letter using a highlighting pen but he could not read it; he thought I was just trying to show him certain parts of a piece of paper.

I was told to dress casual and that suit and tie were not allowed, so I came in jeans and a T-shirt and got the job.

in most professional jobs, i'd say the suit and tie is a must..

No, but I would go wearing a tie.

Look good.

Shows respect for the interviewer and the process. Also shows you have some ability to makes things happen - like fixing your appearance.

They were probably afraid you would spank them if you turned them down.

Or hoping you would if they hired you...

If they have a application pack (us. with the application form etc.) check what it says - but most "How to win that job..." books do suggest a suit and tie.

I pewrsonally would as I feel it promotes a professional image and shows you think the job is important - at a pinch, a suit and business shirt (Business casual)may do.

I go smart casual to them all.

Mainly because that way they see how I normally look and dress (eg. im clean shaven, I deodorise, I have nice clothing), and they still see that I took the effort to wear something 'nice' to the interview.

Often you can ask them what kind of attire they would like you to wear. I went to a kfc interview the other day in formal business attire. I go to every interview in formal business clothes unless otherwise asked not to. If it's with a fashion store, dress fashionably.

You ca possibly go wrong with Casual Formal, however you can never go wrong with Formal w/Tie.

my suit jacket I like is looking rather ratty at the moment I think I may just go with a business shirt and a tie. I haven't had to wear a suit to work in quite a while.

Go, go gadget new suit time!

Business Suit - make an effort.

And brush your hair - better still - a haircut the day before will always help you look more polished.

Clean your shoes - that's important.
