The Thirty Day Challenge is a bit of a scam, imho.

The privacy policy is very bodge and terms and user agreement links are dead.

The whole thing is a ploy for you to buy, wollah some shit here:

http://www.immediateedge.com/

" Software And Tools

As a member of The Immediate Edge you are also going to get access to some amazingly powerful software that will be revealed as and when I cover it in the newsletter or in an article.

I am afraid I can't tell you about it yet (and you have every right to be cynical) but I don't want to risk giving the ideas away at the moment. But trust me, this is killer software. (But trust me, this is utter shit)

(most of the software has been developed for both the Mac and PC, or is web based, so just about everyone should be able to use it.)"

What utter trash. Can a serious Journalist get rid of these people?

The same charletons:

http://www.dominiche.com/disclaimer.html

"ED DALE, AND/OR MARILLION PARTNERSHIP MAKES NO EXPRESS OR IMPLIED CLAIMS THAT YOU WILL MAKE MONEY AS A RESULT OF PURCHASING THIS SERVICE OR FOLLOWING ED DALE'S ADVICE, OR THE ADVICE GIVEN TO OTHERS WHO PARTICIPATE IN THIS SERVICE."

So it's... we give you our money.... for.. "no express or implied claims". This whole thing is really just a somewhat smick website, trying to plug their consumer to buy into their get rich quick "software".

Just be careful.

Not really. The Immediate Edge is an advanced membership site not a software product. The free software available to Thirty Day Challenge people has an enhanced version to Immediate Edge members.

NO beginners should sign up for Immediate Edge and that will be said many many times by many many people including me. This has been running for 4 years now and there are advanced people taking part and that is what Immediate Edge is about.

And the disclaimer is pretty standard for someone offering professional advice. Hence financial ads saying "read the prospectus to see if it is right for you", same with this, they cannot guarantee you will make money (and they truly would be charlatans if they said you definitely will).

*shrugs*

Like I said there will be people who jump on this and want to tear it apart because that is their nature. I offer it as some fun to those who want to give it a go and learn something, and you will learn lots if you give it a go.

I think I'll just watch the aftermath.

Well you are looking at it. (the aftermath)

Like I said I have participated for the last two years and if I thought there was any scam in it I would not be talking about it here of all places.

If you are looking for reasons not to do it I am sure you can find heaps, too tired, too hard, don't have the time, not smart enough, it's a scam, it's a trap, the cake is a lie etc etc...

I am talking to those motivated people who have an open mind and the where-with-all to give things a go. They are the ones that are going to succeed anyway, not the negative ones.

Really???

How long has it been around then?

Tell me what it has taught you.

It has been around for 4 years. Thousands have taken part. Not going to play up the success stories, but yes there are people who have made a motza from it. Mostly it is the average person who goes through then starts making a small amount a month, or learn enough to completely scrap what they did and start again.

What has it taught me? Well I make some nice pocket money on the side from some of my projects and I am working towards making it one of my main income streams for when I plan to leave corporate life in 2010.

You can follow some of my projects on my blog if you like http://allisonreynolds.com/blog/

This weekend I am engaging freelancers via guru.com for a couple of niches I am setting up. Popping up a couple of blogs and writing articles and content. This is not a get rich quick thing, and it takes work to make it happen.

Interesting.

See the problem is, Ex, I have no problem with you. In fact, what I really want to know is why you dropped the Gramyre name to spin all this stuff?

I'm not taking anything away from what you, personally, Gramyre have done. But I have to say, these people sure look dodgey.

If you have some legitimate information to pass onto us, please do so. What you have presented is in essence a regurgitated marketing spiel.

If that is all that it is - so be it. All you have presented is some clever marketing buzz words and links to some "advanced membership site". Which is what?

I take nothing from you, and I respect your work Gramyre, I just question why you would associate yourself with these people?

This looks like a typical spam site.

I did not drop the name Gramyre to spin this stuff. Gramyre has not been posted from for....not sure how long, but it was the day I was no longer a moderator.

I certainly am not hiding who I am (why would I post my blog with video of me on it if I was?), though I am not here as often as I used to be, not by a long shot.

You are entitled to have your opinion.

My opinion is different, and I think what you are saying is why would a seemingly pretty bright person get caught up in a marketing ploy. Thing is I know what it is and what it is not.

Let's say i was here saying "join the Scout movement" you will learn heaps and it will be good for you. Would there be the same sort of backlash... probably not because although it is a honeypot for pedophiles, it does not have the same potential for losing money. People are more concerned about losing money than anything else.

So don't BUY ANYTHING. Pretty simple adult solution actually.

As to why do I associate with these people? Because I happen to think Ed Dale is a pretty upfront decent bloke (who is not an Anerican wanker). The community around the 30DC is much the same as atomicans with n00bs to experts all interacting and helping each other out. And it is pleasant to be part of a positive bunch of people. Much like it is here (sometimes....)

Ratticus you have made up your mind and truly i am fine with that. Same as I would make up my mind about things too, but I would do it after really understanding what things are about.

:-)

My mind is not a closed book, Gramyre. Well, out of respect actually to you I will check this out. One last question, and I appologise if this felt personal at all, but if the goal is money then do you trust the people on this forum?

I have a sinister side too, I am studying new media academically, this forum interests me.

Cheers!

If you are getting at would I believe myself on these forums...I would do what I always do...research research research, talk to my peers, talk to participants, use google, then make up my mind.

Everything has something to teach me, even black hat scammers (look at the recent FlightCentre web site issue).

I forgot to mention one of the other reasons I follow Ed Dale, he is an early adopter of technology. If you are into new media then you might be interested in how this year's lessons are to be delivered. Daily use of UStream TV, downloads for various mediums including iPhone and other stuff. I will be as interested in "how" he does it, as I am in "what" he is saying.

2 years ago he was talking social bookmarking - people laughed , it is now mainstream
Last year he was talking Twitter - people laughed , it is now taking off in a big way

There are shit people all over the net, shit products, crazies and scammers. It only takes some time and research to see what is what.

p.s. I hate fucking sales letters.
