Jihad on Bunnings Rocklea!

looking for some sheet metal on a weekend, not an easy thing to find.

decided to give a call to the biggest hardware store I know.
Bunnings Rocklea, Called them, twice yesterday, both times alot like this:

"hello, just wondering if you sell electro galv sheet metal"

"hang on i'll just put you through to someone who knows"

<5 minutes later>

"dooot doooot doooot dooot", the phone hangs up.

same thing twice!

today, rang a whole bunch of other places, including two other very helpful bunnings (booval and cant remember), and a mitre 10. No luck.

against my better judgement, try rocklea again.
EXACTLY THE SAME THING!!!
"hang on i'll just put you through to someone who knows"
<5 minutes later>
"dooot doooot doooot dooot"

:O ! ummm, do they not want to sell stuff?

going back to mitre10, they had zinc-alum, best i can get of a weekend.

</rant>

so to make this not just a rant, share your crap service stories?

edit: I like Mitre 10, the guy that helped me knew about case mods, awesome.

Why not ring a metal or steel company?

Instead of ringing them, can't you go into the store and ask?

At least they can't hang up on you there, just walk away/ignore you

The Bunnings monopoly is really starting to show in their increasing prices, diminishing range and lower staff levels.

Despite often only having one or two checkouts to serve a dozen or more queued customers, they still insist on having someone at the door to greet people.

WTF? It's a cheapo hardware store, not the friggen Hilton.

I think it's good that we have a big name store that we know and trust instead of all these little independant operators who can't even afford to advertise on television.

ROFL@smadge1

I think the door greeter person is like the staff member they have at the door at K-Mart and Big W and stuff. They're really there to check that people leaving the store without going through a cash register aisle aren't stealing stuff.

Anyway, if someone is transferring you wrong and always hangs up on you, can't you just explain that to them the next time you call? They probably think they're doing it right...

My biggest gripe is the automated store locater you get with Dominoes when you ring them up from the city these days.

Answering machine: "which store would you like to order from"

Me: Bardon

Answering machine: "I'm sorry I didn't understand you please say the store location again"

Me: Bardon

Answering machine: "I'm sorry I didn't understand you please say the store location one more time"

Me: Bardon

Answering machine: "I'm sorry I didn't understand you please say the store location one more time"

Me: BARDON!

/noise of phone being hung up

WTF!

I mean you say the store location three times and the fucking machine hags up on you

...

Dominoes might be cheap, but I really am getting to the point where I can't be fucked ordering from there die to a lack of service.

WTF do you need an automated store locator for?

Caller ID would suffice for probably 75% or more of households.

Out of 3 residences in the inner west of Brissie I never had one that was successfully allocated to the correct Dominos store... tards

Bunnings are great for range but their service gives me the absolute shits... hire some more $15/hr staff ffs! At least they can scan barcodes and take my money!

Funny story, a mate of mine did the whole automated store locator, and ended up with a pizza waiting for them out whoop whoop when the store locator got it wrong. said store called them up to ask why they hadn't picked up there Pizzas, hilarity ensued excepting the fact that they still didn't have there pizzas

I love Bunning’s; I could walk around in there for hours.
Never had a problem with any of the stores, only problem I have seen is the costumers walking in asking “I’m looking for that metal rod for that thing that’s attached to the plastic thing on the side of my house?” Then get the shits with the Bunning’s guy for not knowing what the fuck they are on about.

I have found the prices have gone up, but find it more to do with them having better products due to people asking for them.
