Your favourite albums

Yeah pretty sure this has been done before, but it's either post a new one, or bump and old one and have it locked.

At the time I couldn't for the life of me choose, and this posting was spurred by a mate who sent me his top 5.

I realised I STILL can't cut mine down to 5, as they're all 'best' or 'favourite' for various reasons.

So hard to pick albums I'd consider my favourite OVERALL (ie there's plenty of artists not below who might have a single song I consider better than ALL songs on one of the albums below, etc, as well as plenty of more classical/older stuff than below).

So to be in the list below, I have to love every track on the CD, ie each one has 4 or 5 stars in my iTunes library, and/or must've had a massive impact on me and my life :-)

So I have 15 :-)

311 - Transistor or Evolver (vastly underrated pop/punk/reggae/rap-rock from Omaha Nebraska, most uplifting rockin band I know)
Alice in Chains - Dirt (first CD ever, bought shortly after dad died, powerful-as and helped me immeasurably. RIP Layne)
Chris Isaak - anything at all (so probably the recently-released Best Of ... the bastard son of Elvis and Roy Orbison is my god)
Helmet - Betty (these guys - touring March, fuck yeah, got my tix! - are metal/punk pioneers and this record excels on all fronts)
Icehouse - Man of Colours (brilliant Aussie pop/rock with one of the best vocalists in the biz)
Metallica - Metallica (pivotal for rock and Metallica themselves, hit when I was in yr 7 and lasted on rotation through highschool)
Mudvayne - Lost and Found (awesome nu-metal with the bone-crushingest (?) guitars and alternately melodic and raging vocals)
Nine Inch Nails - The Downward Spiral (also pivotal, hit me in yr 9, and still has such immense disturbing power)
Nirvana - Nevermind (hit when I was in yr 7 too, and changed not just me but the world. RIP Kurt)
Opeth - Ghost Reveries (the latest from the Swedish metal outfit, but with some of the most brilliant melodic vocals and prodigious instrument talents anywhere)
Pantera - Vulgar Display of Power (crushing power metal featuring some of the late Dimebag Darrell's most brilliant axe-wielding genius. RIP Dime)
Radiohead - OK Computer (weird, beautiful ambient alt-pop/rock from one of Britain's best)
The Smashing Pumpkins - Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness (2-disc masterpiece that also hit and helped during some of life's hardest years)
Type O Negative - Life Is Killing Me (at least til yesterday when I grabbed this Brooklyn, New York doom metal quartet's newy out in March (don't worry I'll be buying it the day it's out), Dead Again which has been on constant rotation ever since... literally... been listening to nothing else).
White Zombie - Astrocreep 2000 (awesome monster-metal from Rob Zombie (et al), who's solo efforts have never quite matched this masterpiece)

Now I'm sure some will disagree with my evaluation or genre label, but not the point, PM me if you absolutely must disagree, but bring on the favourite album lists!
